Meet Sharonda Andrews: Professional Braider & Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharonda Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharonda, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
It’s funny that you ask, I’m a creature of habit. There are three habits I feel that have helped me succeed. #1: Starting my day earlier, I get up most mornings no later than 5:15am-5:30am. This allows quiet time for me. It also allows me to plan and prepare for my day. I truly get more accomplished by doing so. #2: Creating systems, I try to create a system for just about everything. Hey it’s the “Type A” in me (Lol). I find that having systems in place, saves time and spares headaches later. It’s like creating a solution before you even have a problem. #3: Being consistent and holding myself accountable to my own standards. All three have played a major part in my success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Professional Braider that specializes in protective styles.. What sets me apart is that first and foremost I care about the health of your hair, the styles are just a bonus. I have extended my services to include shampooing, conditioning, & other treatments which is uncommon for braiders. However, 95% of my clients have their edges and that’s important. We have to protect those edges at all costs. I’m very particular about the quality of my work. If I know a style will compromise the integrity of your hair, I won’t do it. Instead, I’ll offer you an alternative that we’re both comfortable with. I am most proud of the relationships I build with my clients and I say relationships because they trust me and I value that trust.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a hard one because Fayetteville is quite small. However, I’m a foodie, so eateries would be a priority (Lol). We would definitely do dinner at Pinewood Studios, Frank’s at the Old Mill and Village Cafe. Pho at Dua II Vietnamese would be an absolute must for lunch. For drinks, I would take them to Sabor a Mexico. They have the best margaritas in my opinion. Most of my friends like to shop, so The Fayette Pavilion or The Avenue for retail therapy would make the list. Honestly, if I’m with one of friends…it doesn’t really matter where we go or what we do.. The vibes are always good with my friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to attribute the support of two people in particular that I would like to dedicate my shoutout to. Those two people are Nitoya White (Cosmetologist) and Jada Scott (Professional Braiding Tutor). Both of these ladies have contributed to my success and growth. I’m grateful for them and the gems they are constantly dropping for me. I’m also a part of an International Community of Professional Braiders. So I definitely have to shout out my REBELX family as well. Check out rebelxdirect.com to find a certified braider in your city.
