We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharonda Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharonda, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
It’s funny that you ask, I’m a creature of habit. There are three habits I feel that have helped me succeed. #1: Starting my day earlier, I get up most mornings no later than 5:15am-5:30am. This allows quiet time for me. It also allows me to plan and prepare for my day. I truly get more accomplished by doing so. #2: Creating systems, I try to create a system for just about everything. Hey it’s the “Type A” in me (Lol). I find that having systems in place, saves time and spares headaches later. It’s like creating a solution before you even have a problem. #3: Being consistent and holding myself accountable to my own standards. All three have played a major part in my success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Professional Braider that specializes in protective styles.. What sets me apart is that first and foremost I care about the health of your hair, the styles are just a bonus. I have extended my services to include shampooing, conditioning, & other treatments which is uncommon for braiders. However, 95% of my clients have their edges and that’s important. We have to protect those edges at all costs. I’m very particular about the quality of my work. If I know a style will compromise the integrity of your hair, I won’t do it. Instead, I’ll offer you an alternative that we’re both comfortable with. I am most proud of the relationships I build with my clients and I say relationships because they trust me and I value that trust.

My clients are not just a number and they know that. Each client’s experience is personable. I just don’t want them to “look” good when they leave my chair, but I also want them to “feel” good as well. We have fun and we laugh a lot. I’m most excited about some new things that I have in the works. I can’t wait to share with you guys. I would like to think I got to where I am today professionally, through dedication, great work ethic and being consistent.
It was not easy, it’s never easy if you want to be successful. I just made up my mind that I wasn’t going to quit no matter what. When you have that mindset, you’re better able to push through the challenges that come along. I’ve learned that customer service trumps everything! Your talent and skill may get you in the door, but your professionalism and customer service will keep you there! Everyone likes to feel valued and appreciated, especially when they are spending their hard earned money. I would like the world to know that my brand is one that is authentic. One that is built on dedication & passion. My story is one of resilience. I’m just a girl that refuses to give up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a hard one because Fayetteville is quite small. However, I’m a foodie, so eateries would be a priority (Lol). We would definitely do dinner at Pinewood Studios, Frank’s at the Old Mill and Village Cafe. Pho at Dua II Vietnamese would be an absolute must for lunch. For drinks, I would take them to Sabor a Mexico. They have the best margaritas in my opinion. Most of my friends like to shop, so The Fayette Pavilion or The Avenue for retail therapy would make the list.  Honestly, if I’m with one of friends…it doesn’t really matter where we go or what we do.. The vibes are always good with my friends. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to attribute the support of two people in particular that I would like to dedicate my shoutout to. Those two people are Nitoya White (Cosmetologist) and Jada Scott (Professional Braiding Tutor). Both of these ladies have contributed to my success and growth. I’m grateful for them and the gems they are constantly dropping for me. I’m also a part of an International Community of Professional Braiders. So I definitely have to shout out my REBELX family as well. Check out rebelxdirect.com to find a certified braider in your city.
