We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanteria Hale Aylesiah Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanteria Hale, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind us starting our own business primarily stemmed from life’s funny way of things working out in the end. We met in Esthetician school and our first day upon meeting, we immediately discussed getting a space together once completing the program. What initially started out as a shared space for our individual businesses, soon turned to starting a business together.

We’re both equally ambitious and passionate about the esthetics field. We’ve also both worked in corporate America and have stated how much we enjoy having the opportunity to have control of not only our time but implementing creative ideas that aid in our success personally and professionally. Overall, the best experience has also been to show other women that your peer shouldn’t have to be your competitor but your teammate.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Charmed Esthetics studio was founded by two Esthetician’s, Aylesiah and Shanteria, that met in Esthetician school. We are both very passionate about the industry and had dreams of becoming spa owners. What sets us apart from others is our passion for the field, excellent customer service, and founding principle of having integrity in everything we do. We enjoy making our customers feel comfortable, pampered, and overall providing a wonderful experience. From the music choices, to the ambiance we create, we want our clients feel like they are on a relaxing vacation. We strive for a five star experience every time, no matter the service being provided.

What we are most proud of is the opening of our spa. We had a dream and saw it through. Now we are open for business and able to share our passion with others. We are so excited to continue growing and creating more experiences for our clients while in our native city.

We got to where we are today by staying true to ourselves. When starting a new venture, it may be hard for others to see your vision because the vision was given to you to complete. Although, it wasn’t always easy, we overcame every obstacle we endured. When we are both determined to do something, there is no stopping us and that’s one of the many great things that make us a strong team.

The hardest part about starting our business was realizing things weren’t going to go exactly how we envisioned in the beginning. We had to remind ourselves that this is only the beginning as we continue to expand.

We have learned through this journey, anything is possible. No matter how big or small your dreams and goals are, they are definitely attainable. Things will become challenging and you will be tested; however, if you can push through, amazing things can happen.

The main thing we want people to know about our brand is that we strive for excellence and this is only the beginning for Charmed Esthetics Studio. We are working on a lot more to provide to our clients and we are very excited for everyone to come along on this journey with us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With both of us being natives of Georgia (Atlanta and Decatur), there are so many places to take someone visiting. It would be really hard to narrow down a restaurant so that mainly depends on the cuisine we’re going for; however, Atlantic Station, Ponce City Market, and Truist Park aka the Battery are always nice areas for tourists. You have a wonderful view and quite a few choices for restaurants.

Shanteria-Prior to Covid, museums and festivals have always been two of my favorites aside of restaurants (I’m a foodie at heart and love nachos and tacos). I often find museums when visiting other cities so it’s only right I show what Atlanta has to offer. Just to name a few, The World of Coca Cola, High Museum of Art, Fernbank, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, College Hall of Fame, and the Trap museum are all great museums. In reference to festivals, there’s the Dogwood Festival, Sweet Auburn Festival, One MusicFest, Music Midtown, and the Jazz Festival.

Aylesiah-I’m a nature lover so I would definitely say a few out door activities, such as tubing (if you haven’t done this, it’s definitely worth a try), hiking, swimming and any cool events happening in our city. I also enjoy good eatery’s. I love crab legs specifically and Crab404  is my favorite seafood restaurant. So if my friend is down for some good seafood, even better.

Aylesiah and Shanteria-With Atlanta being known for having such a party atmosphere, there’s always places to drink, hang out and just enjoy. The nightlife options are endless and there’s always places to dance, lounge, and entertain. Let’s also not forget the popular brunch spots, Garden Parc, BQE, and Fin and Feathers just to name a few. Overall, we’re natives and know how to have a good time no matter the occasion or location, so our friend is sure to have the best time ever.
