We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanta Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shanta, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well, growing up on the East side of Detroit across Jefferson was an adventure by itself. Shootings on blocks over and the blocks are fighting and shooting at each other…. Like the same neighborhood fighting each other.. it was a movie! So from that, I started writing music.. it was an outlet.. and from what I’ve seen growing up I’m proud to say, I have never joined a gang or have been influenced by negativity. But with that being said, I Knew Everyone… finally I started working for the airline, Northwest/Delta, shortly after I traveled the world!
What should our readers know about your business?
I have music out now and a remix on the way with D Hobbz. I have my own record label. I have my own nonprofits. I have a clothing line, RockOSoWet. The website for the clothes are: www.RockOSoWet.ecwid.com And the music: www.mo-wet.com
Music on all platforms! Mo-Wet’s Greatest Hits on there now
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ll take them to my house… cook, invite some more folks for a gathering and out on some music… after that, maybe skate at the new outdoor roller rink in downtown Detroit, have a drink at Fishbones or Sinbad’s… maybe hit some comedy. And wherever the wind blow us..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to Reda for the recommendations! Shoutout to my supportive family and friends, to my friend for referring the book One Minute Manager, shoutout to the neighborhood for showing me life so I can understand it. Shoutout to my grandma because her teachings stay with me… I could go on..
