We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannay Arias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shannay, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursue an artistic/creative career because it’s a form of expression from my perspective. Art is definitely subjective yet, it has such a complex approach to self expression that even people who may not be consciously entuned as someone who pursues it, they are surrounded by it. It exists in all forms of life from the colors of the plants to the patterns and build of animals. The architectural designs of homes, furniture, and vehicles. We are art.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a creator of a wide range of jewelry and home décor pieces. What sets me apart is the unique originality behind all of my creations. I add lots of different layers and details such as hand-painted designs, wood burning, copper wired designs and incorporate resin, natural stones/crystals to some of my pieces to spiritually harmonize yourself and heal. Everything thing I have created is a freestyled design and I just flow with what the energy provides me and work off the pure vibes flowing from my hands.
I am so proud of my growth and how far my creativity has expanded since the first day I’ve started. I gained new skills along the way that has helped me expand my creations to whole different level.
Doing frequent pop up events in different locations and networking has got me to this point in my business, but getting to where I am today was a challenge because I constantly held myself back due to the lack of confidence and constant procrastination. It definitely has gotten easier now; my perspective has changed and that’s what made me overcome all obstacles.
I learned to never doubt myself and to keep my mind balanced and positive. I’ve learned how to organize my work life and personal life even better than before, I’ve learned to incorporate more self-care to insure that I am always my best self to keep the business sustained. Now that I am my best self I can have the clarity I need to gain even more knowledge of running a successful business.
My business was created from my own mental troubles and creating pieces helped me cope and stay focused through my pregnancy. My brand is about being able to express oneself and to me that is very important. For many people, not having that freedom can take a mental toll and disturb one’s inner peace. If even just one of my creations makes someone happy then it makes me happy to be of help, I started incorporating natural stone/crystals in some of my pieces as well to further assist in the energetic balances and spiritual harmony within people . My crystal jewelry pieces and crystal healing nightlights are some examples of those incorporations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d definitely want to take her to little 5 points. Support some small businesses and check out the pop ups they have going on too cause it’s a whole vibe out there.
Slutty Vegan is the food spot. Everything tastes sooo good, so I’m checking for that whole menu.
The botanical garden is definitely going on the list and since it’s so close to the Aquarium we’ll be heading over that way the same day.
Chill out in the Cumberland Mall and when we’re ready to eat, the cheesecake factory is where it’s at since it’s all in the same place. If she comes when the women’s expo event is there I’ll be getting some tickets and that’s a whole day right there.
I love going to markets and Atlanta Indie Market hosts some great events, I would love to take her to one of the those cause the people and the businesses are really dope and we could make a whole day out of that too just eating exploring and vibing out.
For one day out the week we’ll just start walking around the city checking out random spots and adding it to our list for next visit. We could both walk for hours and it wouldn’t even phase us.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my parents & my cousin Natalie. My parents are the reason for my existence and my drive and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their constant support throughout this entire journey. My cousin Natalie has assisted me in many of my pop up events and has guided me in the direction to successful outcomes. I am extremely appreciative to all of the support I’ve gotten from my close friends, family and customers and I am so grateful to have an abundance of support.
