We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabriya Alvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabriya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted it to be something that truly represented me. I love everything about beauty/fashion.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Styled Divine Appearance (SDA) is a one stop shop that provides styling services such as hair, makeup, and wardrobe. SDA also has an online store where you can shop with us for your beauty/ fashion needs. The thing I’m most proud about is that I never gave up despite the circumstances. The road wasn’t easy but it was worth it. The biggest lesson I learned was that everyone won’t support you and you have to be okay with being your biggest/only fan. What I want the world to know is that SDA stands on the mission to embrace every woman’s beauty rather that’s by styling them or uplifting them with words of encouragement.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came in town the first place we would go is a seafood spot to get her some crabs. She loves seafood so that would be first. The next place we would go is her grandmother’s house, that’s like our go to spot because family is always there and the family loves to cook. The next day we would probably go to City Market which is our go to spot located in Downtown Savannah. After doing that for about two nights in a row we will head to Tybee Beach to catch up with each other’s lives and end the trip by doing some cool family activity. I’m a pretty laid back person so anything with food is a go to. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Inception Firm has helped me so much with pushing my creativity.
