We had the good fortune of connecting with Rantrice Lowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rantrice, how do you think about risk?
I look at risk as overcoming a fear. We often analyze the pros and cons and even sometimes talking ourselves out of it simply because of fear. Taking risk involving my business has actually helped me. I know it sounds crazy but when I put my fear to The side and just do it. The outcome is always the opposite of what you thought. I quit my job of five years to become a makeup artist full time. Man I had so much doubt and not only the doubt in myself but from others as well. Well I took the risk to leave my full time government job to do what I enjoy to do. Let’s just say I have clients non stop since. Very blessed and thankful for taking that big leap.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve always loved makeup! When ELF cosmetics first launched my mother let us pick out a few items from their site. Once the package arrived I was in awe. I feel in love instantly just from the packaging. Since then I started to watch YouTube videos from popular influencers to learn how to do makeup. Once I got good at doing my makeup a lot of my friends and family would ask me to do their makeup. I wasn’t a makeup artist at the time and neither did I want to become one either. I was in school to become a nurse. Everyone told me I should do makeup but didn’t see myself as a MUA . I also didn’t see myself as a nurse either. LOL Well I dropped out of school and I just felt useless. I had my baby girl and I was like I need something behind my name. I need to create a source of income that I’m not only be happy with but stress free as well. Boom! I became a makeup artist. Starting off it was not easy at all. Trying to get through a already saturated field and others going off popularity. I took multiple classes from makeup artist that I looked up too. I practice , practice and practice on family and friends and even my wonderful husband. I learned through this journey to just wait your turn. We are so blinded by others success we tend to forget how they got there and we rush and stress ourselves out but looking from the outside. I want people to know that my brand will not go unnoticed. Every face I do I put my heart and soul into it. This is just the beginning and I will continue to always be the best person, makeup artist and entrepreneur. I take my business seriously it’s my third child.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband. Every thought, move, and task I’ve done he has been right there. He never drowned my ideas with negativity. He was always there if it seemed impossible he at least tried before saying it’s not possible. I love him to death. I couldn’t have got as far as I did without him.
