We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious J. Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Precious J., what are you inspired by?
come from a line of women who assist in childbirth. I became inspired once I heard the story of my great-grandmother who helped her community by birthing babies.
My favorite thing about becoming a doula is being able to create the birth plan. Each birth plan is so unique to the mother’s needs. It is exciting to hear parents visions around birth. It shows you just how much diversity one has in their community.
If I could change one thing about the experience of birth it would be all the negative fear based stigmas & pressures western society has placed on mothers before the birth is even conceived.
I decided to expand my brand into making products because I saw a need to promote self-care within my community.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I am most proud nd excited about my new Amazon Best Selling Book, “The Path to my Purpose”. Ever wonder what would happen if Black women came together to share their wins, losses and life lessons? Well…so did we. And what we discovered was that no matter how different, beautiful, dark, inspiring or triggering our stories may be, there’s Loveliness in each of them. We present to you The Loveliness Project: The Path to My Purpose. This book is available on www.preciouscargonc.com
Did you know that black women are 3-5x more likely to die during childbirth? The maternal mortality rate is continuously rising in the south and in the nation. Precious has made it her mission to combat these rising statistics. Are you expecting #PreciousCargo? Do you need labor support? Visit www.PreciousCargoNC.com to schedule a free consultation.
My story as an entrepreneur has not been easy. I have had to learn to trust my intuition. I most recently quit my fulltime job as an educator to become a fulltime entrepreneur. I quit my job as a middle school computer skills teacher. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. During the pandemic, I self reflected a lot. Anyone who knows me know how much I enjoy being an educator. It has always been an honor for me to be apart of molding the mind of the next generation. I took great pride in thinking outside of the box with my methods of teaching the WHOLE CHILD. But with today’s politics in education, I could no longer continue. The stress became overbearing. I was burnt completely out. I went against what my family and friends suggested and left it all behind. I knew it was time for me to do what made me happy.
As I worked full-time, I created an outlet that later became a business. I love helping families have positive birth experiences. I love making candles that help to create a relaxing environment. I love making steams and teas that help keep our temples healthy. I love conducting my own business and making my own schedule. I love the feeling of satisfaction I get when I am able to sell a product. I love living my worth. I put a price tag on my own time. I feel better. My health is better. The stress is less and I am genuinely happier than what I was. I made a conscious decision to become a full-time entrepreneur. I don’t know what tomorrow holds. But I feel damn good about it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Greensboro, you must visit the Illustrious North Carolina A&T State University. The greatest HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY in the WORLD! My alma mater.
We would eat authentic Caribbean jerk chicken from Reggae Cafe,
Catch live music at Boston’s House of Jazz.
I would show them the growing businesses in downtown Greensboro!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother Sheila M. Bradley
