We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without risk, the business wouldn’t be where it is today, right? This new stage is due to me feeling trapped and unsatisfied at my full-time job. After some planning- I finally quit that job in June 2020. I decided to push through my fears and re-introduce my vegan brand. I mean as they say, ” you don’t know unless you try!”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
For the last 25 years of my life, I’ve always given back to our communities by cooking and baking delicious foods all over the East Coast. That’s what I enjoy doing and I wouldn’t want to be anything else but a Chef. In this last year, Caked By Pat has been able to push through and grow in the middle of a global pandemic. A company goal for 2021 was to secure at least seven Atlanta storefront clients that would want to sell our vegan baked goods- We now have five and it’s only April! I am very proud to be the premiere vegan french macaron maker in town. Attention to quality, taste, and consistency are key in macaron production. I’d love to see Seeded Macaron being produced on a larger scale in the future, in an improved sustainable manner. Lately, I’ve been putting action to my foodie ideas. I’ve added vegan Jamaican patties to the product line and they are already slated to move to wholesale.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My mom is coming next month and we like to do alot of the same things so this is what we’ll be getting into: organic facials at IWI fresh, stroll through the flowers at the Botanical Garden, visiting with the Garden Queen, eating out at Atlanta’s best vegan foodie spots, shopping at Royal Health World, walking trails in Cascade Springs, and tea at Just Add Honey’s patio.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Working during this pandemic forced me to view everything with fresh eyes and pivot my focus. This is the first time I’m addressing myself as Vegan Chef. I had to because I’ve changed so much and my business is begining to reflect those changes. When I think about how my grandparents, grand-uncles and grand-aunts had given me so much knowledge as a little girl visiting Jamaica; it all came back to my mind like a flood. I’m shouting out my ancestors for preparing me.
