We had the good fortune of connecting with Noel Knows and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noel, how does your business help the community?
My business helps the community find alternative methods to heal from trauma so they can live their best, authentic self.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
refine for a magazine interview: I left an unhealthy marriage with nothing but my children and dignity. I never wanted a woman to experience such a thing , so I thought if I started a non-profit where I could help others with resources it would decrease the amount of women/men that stay for lack of finances/resources. I partnered with major corporations to donate furniture/ food and clothing to survivors. We operated as a resource for 17 years and I noticed the loop many clients were in and I thought, “We are not helping them. I’m enabling them.” This may not have been true for all however it was true for most.

I went on a two week retreat with Lisa Nichols and I was transformed. I returned with a different mindset and vision for our organization. I met with a new team of board members and we set into action. We decided to help transform the minds of others instead of providing material goods. This model worked.
So now we host workshops and retreats to those seeking to heal from trauma so they can excel in life.

This transition wasn’t easy, it has taken awhile for folks to get adjusted to our shift and it allowed us to weed out those who really desired help.

At first, no one showed up to the events because it was no longer free. Then with consistency and promotion it slowly grew. Never have I wanted to quit because I love what I do and the plans I have to grow keeps me excited and passionate about helping others heal.

What I learned during this process was
1) Choose a board that have an expertise and that are aligned with your mission
2) Create a plan and make it plain and Measurable so when something isn’t working, you can swiftly pivot.
3) Trust your instincts.
4) Believe in yourself.
I would like the world to know that life is meant to live abundantly and sometimes we need others to show us that its possible. Find someone in your proximity that can assist in the process. If you don’t mind virtual coaching, you can contact us at NoelKnows.org.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What a wonderful question because I am a curator of events so I love planning. I would begin the week with breakfast at IMunch for their smoothies and crab omelet with potatoes. then a brisk walk along the trail at Kelly Drive ( if weather permits), head home to shower and off the to The Four Season for a massage and facial. A five-star experience all the way. I don’t party/club so I would definitely attend a networking event/Ted Talk. My dinner recommendation may take us out of the city. My faves are Fogo De Chao (because they have vegan options now) and Chatatee Thai because they are in the city. Tavola for fine dining, music, ambiance and golf (it simply a hidden gem.) The Stinger is another hidden Gem in Ridley Park known for its seafood, location (by the River) views of watching yachts pass by and last but not least, Riverwinds is simply breathtaking.

Philly is known for the arts so catching a play at Walnut Street Theater, a show at The Met, A Sixers game, A great Estate Sale, Comedy show or simply hang out at the Reading Terminal. Philadelphia has so much to offer. I could go on and on about places to visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All praise is do to God for giving me a healing spirit, my cousin Zina for inviting me into rooms that expand my horizon. She introduced me to Lisa Nichols, open my eyes to , “Think and grow Rich” and “Hidden Language Code.” However It was at one of the retreats with Lisa my life was transformed. I attended a retreat in New York and I was volunteering but also participated in one excerise. This particular exercise we were reciting all the things we needed to hear in life from our family members , friends, etc. We were in nteams and team A was circling Team B( I was in Team B) and tons of people were being vessels and whispering in our ears what they needed as a child/adult. The beautiful words were touching parts of me that felt dead and a woman whispered something in my ear and I felt this release from my pelvic area up my chest and out my mouth as a scream. By the time I calmed down I noticed a large crowd around me, supporting me, hugging me and holding space.
I felt so light. For years I cursed myself because I was forced to have an abortion and I thought God hated me. So to have that energy release and learning to forgive myself was a gift I wanted to be able to help others work through.
