We had the good fortune of connecting with Niyah Symonee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Niyah Symonee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind Niyah Symonee Beauty was, “there aren’t many black owned cosmetic lines, so why not start one?” Also, I thought about how some makeup products are uncomfortable. When I say uncomfortable, I mean things such as sticky lip gloss, smudging eyebrow pomade, and paste-like eyeshadow. I also thought about girls of color trying to find the right foundation and concealer for their skin color. In the near future Niyah Symonee Beauty will feature foundations and concealers that cater to people of color. This cosmetic line will have all the make up you need. Our mission for Niyah Symonee Beauty is to supply your needs and leave you feeling CONFIDENT, CUTE, AND COMFORTABLE!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Niyah Symonee Beauty is a Black Owned, Vegan, and Cruelty Free cosmetic line. This sets us apart from many of our competitors. Currently, the products that we offer are Lashes, Lipgloss, Lip liner, Eyebrow Pomade, Eyeshadow, and Highlight.  I am most excited about our future growth!  My overall goal for Niyah Symonee Beauty is to achieve a full cosmetic line that leaves you feeling confident, cute, classy and comfortable.  Many may not know that I started my own business selling strip lashes at the age of 16.  However,  while growing my business, I got scammed so I took a few years off to plan and figure out exactly what I wanted to do.  Now I’m 19 and business is going great. Nothing about entrepreneurship is easy, the journey hasn’t been without trials, but my support team has been there every step of the way encouraging me to remain faithful and restoring my motivation when needed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting Austin Texas for a week long I would probably take them to Mount bonnell for a picnic, downtown to ride scooters, boats and sight see, The domain for drinks and Barton creek mall to shop!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My whole support team deserves credit and recognition, if it weren’t for them I don’t know where I would be. However, the one person I have to give credit to is my great business coach, KC. I want to thank her for everything that she’s done! During the process of preparing to launch Niyah Symonee Beauty, KC and I talked everyday for four months straight. She stayed consistent with making sure I had everything ready to launch, my weekly content planned out, and built my knowledge about day by day business. She also introduced me to a numerous business opportunities. There were long nights I stayed up stressed trying to get everything together, KC was there letting me know everything would be fine. She always gives me that extra push that I need. I could never repay her for all she’s done for me personally, as well as, Niyah Symonee Beauty!
