We had the good fortune of connecting with NaTasha Cameron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi NaTasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process is always about my children and my community. My goal is to create a legacy for my children’s, children and create jobs in the African American community.  My mission is simple – to keep black dollars circulating in the African American community and to be a part of restoring black economics.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Thomas Williams Management & Maintenance, AD Beauty & Hair, the Founder of Cameron’s Angels Foundation and an author., which is why I refer to myself as a MOMPrenuer.

Being a serial entrepreneur, there is no lane to stay in because I’m creating a legacy in both beauty, real estate and any other field that I decide to tap into to, which is what sets me apart from others. Many people will work on one business or project at a time but not me! I challenge myself daily to become my best self and to provide for my family to my best ability.

It’s not always easy because anything worth having is never easy but with the support from my immediate family, knowing my strengths and weaknesses and allowing someone to step in where needed, I have grown tremendously as an entrepreneur and in business.

AD Beauty & Hair started out online back in 2018 but by 2020 I was ready for a storefront. Not ever imagining the world would be going through a pandemic a month later in Feb. 2020 I signed the lease in my first storefront. A month later the world closed but my vision and mind didn’t. I could have gave up but I knew that God had opened doors for me for a reason so I decided to rely on him fully in this journey and stay the course with faith that I’d make it to the other side once the world got back to some type of normalcy. So I’d say having faith and faithful customers is what got me where I am today with AD Beauty & Hair. Of course to get thru these challenging times I had to be creative and do things out side of the box to ensure that I would sustain during the pandemic, like creating a workbook on how to open a beauty supply store to create revenue, continuing to offer shipping and delivery and allow curbside pickup.

My brand is customer service based. Without customers there would be no AD Beauty & Hair so we strive daily to get it right and if somehow we miss, we make it right.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A few places I would take my best friend when visiting the city would be the MLK Memorial because it has so much black history there, we’d definitely have brunch at Suite Lounge, Breakfast at Barney’s and Toast on Lenox because the food is amazing and they are all black owned businesses. We’d also have to check out the Botanical Gardens because I love the creativeness that’s captured there and I love the scenery. I’d also take her to a vending event where many of my business friends vend on the weekends to support other small businesses and lastly I’d likely take her to Slutty Vegan or Bar Vegan because everyone that comes in the city wants to go there and the food is pretty good, as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom. Growing up my mom was a stay at home mom, which is a very hands on and sometimes stressful job. However, I knew early on I wanted to be both – a mom and an entrepreneur. Watching my mom has made me the mother I am today and also with her help, I am able to be the entrepreneur that I am today.
