We had the good fortune of connecting with Myya Marie Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myya Marie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business gave me an opportunity to turn one of my passion into a profession. I believe when you get up and do something you love everyday you can truly find happiness in living. I also wanted to have something to leave behind for my child. She is my biggest motivation and inspiration to push me into being a better person for my family.

What should our readers know about your business?
Marie’s Sweet Little Tingz LLC. was birth into fruition from growing up helping my mother cook and bake pies /cobblers for holidays at home and seeing her cook at our soul food restaurant a seed was planted. I can remember one day my mom let me make a peach cobbler by my self for the holiday and when she tasted it… she was amazed! The comments of my mom still plays in my head when she would taste my peach cobbler she said “we about to put this on the market. Baby you can sell this!” I never thought of owning my own business until it was after college. I’ve always enjoyed cooking and baking but just for the love of it. It is a passion. I heard a motivational speaker one day say “Your passion can be your income. If you love to do it, you wouldn’t mind doing it everyday, you will enjoy it and it will bring you happiness.” That is when I started to think about business. I start watching videos. Yes, you tube university of course.

It hasn’t been perfect but definitely worth it. The most challenging part of my business has been thriving on social media. Being that is where my business is based and where I get most of my customers from I have to stay active. It is difficult to keep fresh content and stay afloat in this industry because there are so many talented cake artist out here. I just have to remember as long as I stay consistent and know that I am my own competition I can and will win! There is enough business out there for us all! I am not where I want to be just yet but with dedication I will get there. I just want to give the world a piece of my sweet little tingz whether it is my baked goods, my sweet personality or my daughter’s ( I call her the baby CEO) BIG and bright personality. We love to brighten the day of others!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to my fiancé Jontavius and my daughters Payton. These two are my literal cheerleaders. Through the ups and down they are always encouraging me to keep going. They may or may not know the push and motivation they give daily.
