We had the good fortune of connecting with Miketa Charnock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miketa, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I grew up in New Orleans. I was surrounded by artist who used their art as a wonderful outlet to express themselves. I always admired their creativity by not only how they expressed themselves but also by how they evoked emotions in others. It provided a sense of comfort to people when seeing their art, especially for me when it comes to fashion. I remember my grandmother teaching me that dressing up should always make you feel good about yourself. Now as a content creator, I use my grandmother’s philosophy to inspire others, as well as myself, to love themselves through fashion.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from other is that i’m just being myself, enjoying what I love to do which is dressing up and expressing myself through fashion. I don’t do it for money or recognition. I create content because it is how I express myself and I love sharing my passion for fashion with other people. My future as a content creator is what I am most excited about. I can’t wait to see my content take off and reach a whole new audience of viewers. It has not been easy getting to where I am today. I had to overcome being a strong Introvert just to put myself out there. My anxiety tried to get the better of me but I had to overcome it, to do what I love. I overcame the anxiety by just not thinking about it and just do it. The lessons I had to learn was just be yourself and that no matter what you are going through, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Sharing your story and passions can inspire some else to share theirs.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take her to the Avalon. It is an outdoor shopping center located in Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta. We would go shopping at all my favorite spots. Some of my favorite spots include EverEve, Free People, and Anthropologie. I would then take her to lunch at Ted’s Montana Grill. They cook a delicious Buffalo burger. For dinner, we would go to The Oaks Steakhouse. They have the best steak I have ever eaten. I would also take her to downtown Atlanta to the Lennox Mall and to Atlantic Station. It would be a week-long extaviganza of shopping and food.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a special shoutout to the three most important women in my life; my mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. All three of these women have been a wonderful support system in my life. I would not be where I am today without their love and support. I am truly thankful for all they have done for me. I love them all.
