We had the good fortune of connecting with Dear Silas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dear Silas, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was that I didn’t want to spend time helping to make someone else’s dream come true while I could be doin that for myself. It’s great experience to work for someone else starting out though, because that gives insight on how you do and don’t want to run your own establishment.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from the majority of artist in this era is my ability to tell stories and connect with the consumer on an emotional level. I’m extremely proud of not only the brand I’ve built around music, but also the impact that it’s had on people fighting though and dealing with mental health issues. I got to where I am today by trusting in God and myself. It takes a certain amount of belief and confidence in one’s self to achieve and maintain a certain level of success in the music business. It definitely wasn’t easy. There are many obstacles on this path, but I’ve been blessed and fortunate enough to thrive anyway. Consistency and authenticity were my keys to success. I’ve learned that if you aren’t unapologetically yourself, people will eventually sniff you out. If you remain true to yourself then you’ll never have to fake a day in your life. I want the world to know I strived to be a good human being. I want to leave behind something that will help someone else do the same long after I’m gone.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout all my amazing fans. The people who help make it possible for me to live out my dreams in real time.
