We had the good fortune of connecting with Micole O’Dell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Micole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think taking risks are important for both personal and professional growth. One of my life quotes is “No risk, no story.” Meaning if you have a dream, wish, thought, idea. etc. you must take all the risk that come with discovering it to know the outcome.
Risks have played many roles in both my life and in my career. While taking risks come with the chance of failure, which may be scary, they also bring about new opportunities. You have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and get comfortable with change.
I launched my business full-time in January 2024. Prior to that, I was managing a boutique fitness studio in addition to MICFIT. I knew I would be taking a pretty big risk when I quit my job to fully pursue my business idea, but I believed in my vision more than I believed in the fear of it not working out. I can’t wait to see where being a risk taker takes me in both life and in my career.
I commend all entrepreneurs and creatives. Our successes are a bunch of risks that we took.
What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets MICFIT apart from others is the sisterhood. It creates opportunities for women to bond over a common goal which is the desire to embark on their fitness journey and adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Here at MICFIT, we provide services for you to improve your physical, mental and nutritional health. We believe movement is medicine for a persons mental, physical and emotional health and when you look good, you feel good.
I am most proud of the community I’ve built thus far. I was a D1 collegiate gymnast, so being a part of a team/ sisterhood was something that has always been a part of life for me. I wanted to create that kind of environment for others.
A few lessons I have learned on my journey so far: Be adaptable to change. Learn from your mistakes / find the lesson in it. You’re going to wear many hats (all) when you’re first starting out. Be coachable and know that continuous learning is necessary. Be in a constant state of evolving.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am such a foodie, so I am going to put BARCELONA WINE BAR at the top of my list. The atmosphere and ambiance is so nice, as well as the customer service. I go often, so I have developed a great relationship with everyone. I hosted our first annual MICFIT Galentine’s dinner there, so it will forever and always hold a special place in my heart.
When it comes to my favorite work or business meeting location, I am a big fan of Cafe Intermezzo. Nothing screams warm and inviting like a delicious coffee and or pastry.
Originally I’m from Woodstock, Georgia, so aside from these, I am still getting familiar with all the hangout spots in the city (Atlanta) myself.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the MICFIT Community simply because without them, there would not be MICFIT. My community consists of friends that became clients and clients that became friends and for that I am forever grateful.
