We had the good fortune of connecting with Meg Link and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meg, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I was a little kid, I loved art. I remember drawing elaborate landscapes of Ocean City, Maryland on a chalkboard when I was five years old. In high school, I have happy memories of listening to music and painting in my parents’ basement while my friends were at parties. I have always had the art bug. I graduated college with a BFA in painting and quickly learned Photoshop so I could find a job as a graphic designer. Whether finishing a painting or designing a logo, there is something so satisfying about visual problem solving.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My paintings are heavily influenced by the city of Baltimore and my career as a graphic designer. Working downtown, I fell in love with the colors of the city. Watching the sunset over the water, seeing the patterns of reflected light in the harbor. I have really fond memories of Baltimore. It is a beautiful and quirky city with an amazing art scene. Baltimore has a number of art museums, Artscape, an outdoors arts festival, and it is home to John Waters, who has always been an inspiration.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is a beautiful city. Whenever, I have friends visiting our first stop is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens followed by a stop at Ponce City Market and a stroll down the Beltline to eat at Krog Steet Market. I also love shopping in Little Five Points. You can find some many unique gifts and clothing. If it’s warm enough, I always recommend a drive up to Lake Acworth for paddleboarding,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mom. She always supported my creative pursuits. After she passed away from cancer, I started painting again. I know she would be proud of me for finding time to chase my dreams.
