We had the good fortune of connecting with Markel Dantzler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Markel, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I feel like my biggest positive habit that has helped me succeed is my time management. I am always on top of due dates and deadlines to not only stay on track, but to stay ahead. When you’ve planned out how to use your time beforehand, you can account for any bumps in the road that you’ll probably encounter. In my line of work, nothing is ever perfect, so I find it easier on myself to plan for the minor inconveniences so that they don’t hinder you as much in the long run. I love planning out my weeks because it gives a bit of structure to my life that keeps me from flying off the rails.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a digital content creator, I create digital content for myself and clients and I try not to put myself in a box that defines the ONE thing I do. They say the jack of all trades can be a master of none, but to be honest, I think that saying is crap. What sets me apart is my drive to add more skills to my repertoire. I’m an accomplished director, cinematographer, editor, writer, and graphic designer and I work hard every day to get better at my craft. It isn’t easy trying to learn multiple different skills but I find just dedicating some time a day to getting better at something really helps.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Centennial Olympic Park is such a popular spot in Atlanta that I probably don’t have to say much about it. The Aquarium, World of Coca Cola, and College Football Hall of Fame make their home in close proximity to it along with the State Farm Arena and Mercedes Benz Stadium. Their are an abundance of nice restaurants, bakeries and creameries to keep your taste buds satisfied and there are plenty of attractions and sights to see and experience. Not to mention the great photo ops all around the area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout Ghetto Film School for allowing me to grow as a content creator. I worked with them to produce content for 2019’s BET Revolt Summit and ever since, I felt more formidable as a storyteller and content creator.
