We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Foggle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Just to be able to tell people I’m a business owner. I run a black owned business at that. Growing up many of my family members owned their own establishments back in Fort Worth, TX. Most of those being their own BBQ joints, hair salons, barbershops or churches. Having your own always meant a great deal to me. It’s the fact that control is in your hands and you can go out and determine your own success or failure. Nipsey Hussle & Dom Kennedy inspired me years back to that that leap of faith and build something I can call mine. So I did, and it failed but those losses became huge lessons and had me understand what I need to correct the next time around. Then, Tyler Perry made the famous ‘build your own table’ speech and I was hooked.

My thought process was all about going for what I truly want and not waiting for it to fall in my lap. In order to do so I had to put people around me that’s just as driven and have greater aspirations.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I Co-own a Creative Agency by the name, Primacey Studios. We specialize in branding, project management, marketing campaigns, while giving our unique perspective on photography and film.

Really, just excited that I was able to help pull together such a great group of people with amazing talents. I find it amazing what you can accomplish when everyone is working within the same frequency. From pulling our resources together and all having the mindsets to push each other to these next levels, I’m proud that something like this was just possible to happen and I can be involved.

The road is never easy. I was totally chasing something else trying to ignore my true passion for film just thinking little of myself and abilities. One day I heard a quote from someone who’s name I forget at the moment. They said ‘you are what you think about and do every day’. When I heard that it just hit me real hard and made me realize, I think about film and what all it will take to get to the ultimate level of making movies consistently. It’s what I really want so I need to face that and understand it’s going to be a long fight to get there, but if I don’t start right now I won’t ever make it.

With this team a common theme was understanding some of us have great leadership qualities, but didn’t necessarily know where we were leading ourselves. Others have the vision and can see us achieving great things but didn’t understand how to get us there. We just decided to combine both and work on each others strengths. Our mission is to show other creatives what can happen when you come together to help each other achieve the success we’re all after.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
lol asking the wrong person. I’m a homebody. I kick it with my son whenever I’m not with the team, or I’m constantly working on projects.

I mean.. I got a few spots we can go stop and get a bite but that’s not really my speed.

I would say.. just hanging around me and coming with me wherever I end up going will be the thrill. Being around the team is a different vibe each day. We can go from the studio to being on set, flying out to a different state to get some work in, meeting up with some celebrities and running into people that love our work and treat us like celebrities, things happen.

I’m just hella low-key. Keep it cool, move smooth and stay behind the scenes with things.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a few people, both personal and from afar.

First and foremost I have to give a shoutout to two amazing women that I can always say have my back and support me no matter what I’m going through. Love me and will always keep things real with me. Treat my little progress and major progress as if I just hit the lotto. Knows my heart and know how dedicated I am to my goals and always push me to achieve all the crazy ideas I have no matter who’s against it. My mother Yolanda and my baby mother, Dej.

My entrepreneurial spirit was really polished by Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, Master P and many others. Those guys opened my eyes and made me understand how important it is. Huge shoutout to these guys cause they’re the base of everything I push for. Without them there would be no me. They gave me the blueprints to do for myself.

Erich Thomas – ET the Hip Hop Preacher & Dan Peña. I constantly lock in to both of these guys messages and get myself mentally prepared for the grind. Some times I need that kick to remind me just how much of a dog I am and how driven I am to go out here and get it.
