We had the good fortune of connecting with Applemania Bradford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Applemania, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process of starting Teacher B.A.E, Inc, was after a vision was given to me in a dream. God revealed to me that my purpose on this Earth would exceed the classroom doors. It was then when I started planning self-care trips for my teacher colleagues and me during our breaks. The trips consisted of a lavish itinerary to indulge in some self-care and letting our hair down whilst still giving back to the communities of the cities we were in. My colleagues, now Teacher B.A.E members told me I needed to really create something big with this and that’s exactly what I did. Teacher B.A.E, (Balanced and Educated) Inc. became established in 2019 to unify teachers whilst balancing work, home, social life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Teacher B.A.E, Inc. prides itself on “Empowering Beyond the Classroom.” Our nonprofit is exclusive for teachers. We are NOT your ordinary teacher organization. We focus on carrying out our mission/vision whilst living a Balanced and Educated lifestyle. We strive to balance work, home, and social while improving our self-care through routines and daily practices. Our four pillars set us apart from other teacher organizations: Mentorship for rookie teachers, unity of teachers, awareness of self and self-care, and helping our communities thrive. Establishing Teacher B.A.E, Inc, was challenging mentally. The thoughts of failure and the name itself not being received well from the public as most like to “box” teachers in. So getting over that hump was a challenge. Still, the confirmation from supporters and the love we continuously receive, aided Teacher BAE in becoming an official organization. Some lessons I have learned are that all support is not good support and ensuring the partnership comes from a genuine place while recognizing the hidden agendas. I’ve learned building rapport and partnerships has to reflect and connect to the goals and the vision of BAE. That has been my number one priority and the first order of business. We want the world to know that Teacher B.A.E, Inc, is not just a catchy phrase or hashtag, but a lifestyle.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Omg whats a BAE lifstyle without a BRUNCH! I am such a self-proclaimed BRUNCHIE. I would definitely take them to my favorite brunch spots: Murphy’s, Breakfast at Barney’s, Miss Icey, Milk and Honey, Tribeca Buckhead, Gochas Breakfast Bar and BQE! In addition to a BAE lifestyle, some of my self-care rotuines, involve taking myself out on fine-dining dinner dates. I would make reservations at Pasha, Little Alley Steakhouse, Ruth Chris, or STK, For the vibes we are definitely going with Azule. To add some self-care to the itinerary, we are going to PureBliss med spa for facials and Jeni’s for ice-cream! It’s the vibes for me!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, this shout-out belongs to the members and supporters of Teacher B.A.E, Inc. All it took was a few minds believing in me and my vision to create something exclusive for teachers whilst bringing unity within our educational careers and improving BEST selves. Nowadays, there are so many visionary people, and it is hard to differentiate those of authenticity versus those that are not. Still, my BAEs saw the hard work, dedication, and believed in the vision. They were on board and always support every last one of BAEs initiatives. The partnerships and support BAE has received are unreal. People see the work that BAE has put beyond the classroom and genuinely love supporting and helping us continue to keep thriving and carrying out our vision/mission.
