We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Raman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maggie, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite quotes/song titles is “Go your own way” from Fleetwood Mac. Being an artistic person, there are often times when I find myself comparing my work to others or not knowing where I fit in professionally. I love this song because it reminds me to go my own way, and that no one necessarily “fits in” but we all create our own paths. It’s a very comforting and encouraging reminder that there is no single path for any journey.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up, I’ve always been a creative person and interested in painting, drawing, and fashion. I attended Florida State University for my undergrad and saw an issue with finding unique college apparel. This inspired me to paint my first custom jacket for myself as a fun, summer activity- which luckily took off into a business! Some challenges I experienced were balancing work, school, and my business as well as the time constraints that come with this. Thankfully, I enjoyed the challenge and was motivated and excited to create a business out of my passions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in Atlanta have to Redbird for dinner or weekend brunch, Truist Park, and Piedmont Park. These are all such feel good places with great food and entertainment!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out my friends and family who have all supported and encouraged me to start my Etsy shop! I couldn’t do it without their kind words and advice.
