We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorenza Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorenza, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose an artistic or creative career because I’ve always been outspoken and very creative. Also a fast learner. I started cutting my own hair when I was 11 years old and it carried on into my personal and social life. I decided to make a career of it and go to school in 2006-2007 and got licensed in the state of Georgia in 2008. I’ve been through my ups and I’ve had my downs but to this day I still do what I love and have a strong passion to be a better me than I was the day before every day.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So first off I am a barber. I believe my work sets me apart from others. The time , effort, and attention to details. To get to where I am today took and continues to demand consistency, great customer service, and good understanding of people. Though it’s been long, this journey has definitely not been easy. But the good thing about barbering is that it’s never a bad time to go back to the drawing board and reevaluate. If I would want anyone to know anything about me, know that I am humble, I am blessed, I am confident, I am a barber, I am free!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to first and foremost shout out God. My mother. My daughter. Diamond Cuts Barber Studio and Youseff. You guys keep me on my toes! And all the great barbers, teachers, and influencers I’ve met along the way.
