We had the good fortune of connecting with Letitia Bent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Letitia, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?

My journey in the makeup industry began years ago when I first started experimenting with makeup on myself and friends. I quickly realized that this was my passion and decided to pursue a career in it. One of the key factors that have helped me advance in this industry is my consistency. I make sure to consistently practice my skills, stay up to date with the latest trends, and always strive to improve my craft.

Networking has also played a significant role in my success. Building relationships with other professionals in the industry has opened up countless opportunities for me, whether it be collaborations, referrals, or simply gaining valuable insights and advice. I make it a point to attend industry events, workshops, and connect with other makeup artists on social media platforms.

Organization is another crucial aspect of my success. As a makeup artist, I have to juggle multiple clients, appointments, and projects at the same time. Staying organized helps me stay on top of my schedule, manage my time efficiently, and deliver high-quality work consistently. I use tools like calendars, spreadsheets, and project management apps to keep everything in order.

Lastly, limiting distractions has been essential for me to stay focused and productive in this fast-paced industry. With social media, emails, and other distractions constantly vying for my attention, I have had to develop strategies to minimize their impact on my work. Setting boundaries, creating a dedicated workspace, and practicing mindfulness techniques have helped me stay focused on my goals and priorities.

Overall, these skills have been instrumental in helping me navigate the challenges of the makeup industry and continue to grow and thrive in my career. I hope that aspiring makeup artists can take away valuable insights from my journey and apply them to their own paths to success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of the growth and experience I have gained while working at Tyler Perry Studios. It was definitely not easy to get to where I am today professionally. I had to overcome challenges such as adjusting my attitude, learning how to interact and communicate in a more corporate setting, and adapting to the fast-paced industry.

Through perseverance and a positive mindset, I was able to overcome these challenges and thrive in my role. Some of the lessons I have learned along the way include the importance of adaptability, professionalism, and continuous learning. I have also learned the value of building relationships and networking in the industry.

I want the world to know that my brand is focused on making women feel good about themselves through the art of makeup and self-care. I strive to empower women to embrace their natural beauty and feel confident in their own skin. When women leave my chair, I want them to not only look beautiful on the outside but also feel beautiful on the inside.

Overall, my journey at Tyler Perry Studios has been a rewarding and transformative experience. I am grateful for the opportunities and growth I have achieved, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the beauty industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When visiting Atlanta, there are so many amazing places to explore, but as a proud Atlanta resident, there are a few spots that are near and dear to my heart. For those looking to experience the party and Caribbean scene in the city, I would highly recommend checking out Rum Punch Brunch and Rock Steady for a delicious Sunday brunch. If you’re in the mood for some incredible dinner options, Carmel in Buckhead is a must-visit spot with mouthwatering dishes.

For those interested in immersing themselves in the culture and music scene of Atlanta, Bamba Tuesdays at Rock Steady is a fantastic choice. This event brings the black community together and focuses on Amapiano music, creating an atmosphere filled with love and joy.

If you’re looking to explore some of Atlanta’s top attractions, I would suggest getting a City pass, which includes access to popular destinations such as the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Zoo Atlanta, Fernbank Museum, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. These attractions are all within walking distance of each other, making it easy to see them all in one day.

For a fun evening out, Detour Thursdays at CRU Lounge is a great option to enjoy some drinks and live music. And if you’re in the mood for some shopping and supporting local businesses, head over to Atlantic Station on the weekend to explore the outdoor mall setting filled with unique shops and eateries.

There are so many more incredible places to explore in Atlanta, but these recommendations should give you a good starting point to experience the best of what my city has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tekoa Hash with Teknique Agency, actress Crystal Hayslett , and mentor Stevie Martin. Their encouragement and support has helped me grow and improve as an artist, and I am grateful for their mentorship and guidance. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to be the best version of myself.
