We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Noles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leslie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been interested in the beauty industry and modeled when I was younger where I first took a formal makeup course. After getting married and having my son, I decided to go back and re-educate myself in makeup artistry and I decided to start my business. I started with doing proms, homecomings, special events, etc and soon I booked my first wedding. Just like every business, there are busy and slow times and during the slow times, I really try to buckle down and decide what I can do to better my business and client experience. Fast forward almost 11 years later, and here I am still running my business; however, now, I am doing it full time instead of part time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others that offer similar services is how myself and my team interact with our clients. If you look at my reviews, they really speak for themselves about how we are as a business and how we are at weddings, and other events. We make our clients feel very comfortable and we listen to what their wants/needs are and deliver exceptional service! I believe the one event that makes me the most proud is working on Dateline. I didn’t apply for the job, they actually found me and when I got the call, I thought it was a scam, but quickly learned that it wasn’t and they really wanted me to be on set for hair/makeup. I was incredibly thrilled! Nothing is ever easy in life! If you want something, you have to work for it. There are always times where things are easy; however, there is even more times when things are hard! These hard times is where I learn the most. I have had to overcome alot of obstacles in my way, but that is part of the journey. What do I want the world to know about me? I would want the world to know that I am a very caring and talented woman and a business owner. If you have a dream, just go for it! That is what I did! I follow my dreams so they can be reality. I believe clients will see on their initial contact with me that I am very friendly and easy to talk with. I listen and I care. When you come to your trial for your big day, it is me that will be there for your trial and your big day. I am in every process and every appointment in this business that I have worked hard for. Myself and my team will listen to your needs and deliver and the process will be seamless!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I live in a smaller city; Phenix City, Al right outside Columbus, Ga. Some places during the day that I would take them would be to the National Infantry Museum on Ft. Benning. We also have Calloway Gardens close by that can take up a week by itself to see. Another favorite spot for a day trip is Animal Safari where you can ride through and see animals from all over the world. This area has alot to offer. Some of my favorite places to eat include any restaurants in the Uptown Columbus area, but especially The Loft. It has amazing food! All of Uptown Columbus offer great local restaurants for foodies! After dinner, we would catch a play or musical at Springer Opera House.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success comes from many people! First of all, I will thank God, Without Him, I would not be where I am today. Secondly, I want to thank my husband, Matt and my son Houston for supporting me all of the way! There has been many meals missed and days/nights missed along this journey, but they have been there every step of the way and help me greatly with all aspects! The next person to thank would be my mother, Lynn Houston. She is a cosmetologist and helps me with my business greatly by offering hair services so we can be a full concierge beauty business. The other people that have helped with my success is my makeup artist family in Atlanta and beyond. We are a close network and help each other with whatever we can!
