Meet Kyle’jacquea (KJ) Hair | CEO/Owner Debonair Decor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle’jacquea (KJ) Hair and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyle’jacquea (KJ), is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor of my brand success, is my drive and the will I’ve managed to have to honor my mother and brother who recently passed away. I personally believe if you believe in yourself, and grind you can will your way into a good space. The pain of them passing is a pain beyond measure, the hurt has caused me to dig deep and tap in with my creative abilities. I feel like if you create something from a place of brokenness and authenticity it will grow and eventually evolve into something incredible, also if you keep going while it hurts at some point the people will come.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My businesses is to carry on the spirit of my mother and brother. Debonair Decor is in Honor of my late brother and later mother. We grew up in Inglewood California in the projects where my mom was an interior decorator and we had beautiful decor, mid century furniture pastel color curtains, colorful plates, and eccentric paintings of Frida Kahlo, Michael Jackson, Anita Baker, Al Green, exc, and they called her Ms. Decor. My brother Deon they called him Debonair because he was confident, stylish, fashionable, witty and he really took pride in his appearance. The logo represents “my mother the “Debonair” is for my brother the Decor is for my mother, in our Seattle boutique we carry art, close, sneakers, and home decor. Everything in the shop has sentimental value and has their spirit all over it. I’m essentially doing this to keep their spirit and name alive, while grieving through at the same time, I feel like this is apart of my healing process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
