We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristine Cooke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristine, what are you inspired by?
As an event designer and planner, I have the opportunity to work with so many artists in my own industry. From florists to textile brands, specialty furnishing companies to film photographers, the list of creatives that I am able to collaborate with and watch hone their own craft inspires me constantly. Conceptualizing an event, curating the team, choosing all of the aesthetic elements–at each level, I have the chance to be inspired by those around me that help make the vision come to life. In my day-to-day life, I find inspiration in the visual arts, music, home design, architecture, fashion… the list goes on and on. My family also sparks creativity and pops ideas into my brain, whether it’s watching my Creative Director husband flesh out a branding concept or coloring with my daughter in our driveway. Those I love most foster and drive my passion as well. Finally, and I believe most importantly to my success, I am constantly inspired by my clients. To be given the opportunity to create memorable celebrations from grand weddings to milestone birthday parties, elopements to baby showers, I connect with our clientele on a level that allows me to extract their sentiment, values, and passions. I am able to infuse their wishes and personalities into the events I produce for them, completely and wholly, producing the most personal of celebrations possible.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My company Simply Charming Socials produces weddings and social events across the Southeast & beyond. We stand by our philosophy that emphasizes our process, passion, and principles: We believe that a well-planned event, beginning with a foundation of carefully orchestrated logistics, executed by a curated team of artists & professionals, and designed to capture the aesthetics & personalized nuances unique to our clientele results in a beautiful symphony of memorable moments. Our team is honored by the opportunity to celebrate life’s most memorable milestones with our clientele. From engagements to weddings, baby showers to 90th birthdays, we’ve marry design with logistics and execution to create the events that are remembered for years to come. How incredible it is to witness these special days with families. We become part of their lives. In a way, we become part of their story. What I’ve learned is to treat each event with a dreamer’s vision and a practical mind. A beautiful design is nothing without solid logistics. And what good is a sound plan without carefully curated details? BALANCE is the key to everything.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in the suburbs of Atlanta, I always treat a visit to the city as an adventure myself. The food scene is one of my favorite things about ATL. Some favorites include Buttermilk Kitchen for brunch (chicken biscuits!), Ponce or Krog for a mini food tour for lunch, and Gunshow or JCT Kitchen for dinner. On weekends that I’m not working, I like to head to North Georgia with my family – Elijay for Fall festivities, Blue Ridge for the views, and my very favorite spot – Montaluce Winery in Dahlonega (where my husband and I got married in 2015), for a glass of Dolce or Malbec on the patio.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I began a career in my industry over ten years ago, with many highlights and trials along the way. Until I became a mother in 2017, I never truly understood or appreciated how much balance, confidence, patience, and grace were essential to being a successful business owner, mother, and woman. There is a gratitude that I have toward my three year old Kiki that cannot be described in words. My shoutout is to her!
