We had the good fortune of connecting with Kira Jean and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kira, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue a creative career because I genuinely love connecting with people and telling stories. There’s so much to uncover in a world full of experiences I think so many people want to share. I’m just serving as a voice to the voiceless. I was also voted most creative in Jr. High school so I’d say I’m putting that superlative vote to good use! Lol

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got to where I am professionally because I did a hell of a lot of research on my own and applied real life situations to my business execution.

I used to work at a new station so seeing how things were done from an operational standpoint helped me implement those practices into my freelance content. It has not been the easiest thus far but I’m super grateful for the knowledge it’s provided me with.

I had to overcome a lot of challenges financially because I completely uprooted my life back in Illinois (my hometown) to pursue this dream I’m so passionate about. I’ve had to sell camera equipment to make ends meet with the future in mind because I know the setbacks I’ve experienced are preparing me for the comeback I’ve been waiting for.

I want the world to know that Kira Jean will soon be a name known by many in the entertainment business. I’ve worked my ass off to create all of the opportunities I’ve gotten and I don’t plan on letting off the gas! We only have one life to live and I won’t be selling myself short because of fear.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my bestie to Slutty Vegan, Velvet Taco, and a few Jamaican restaurants I’ve grown to love in the Metro Atlanta area.

I’d also take them to one of the Poetic Jazz concerts (@poeticjazzofficial) held once a month in Atlanta. We’d have to go skating because it’s my newest favorite hobby!
I’d take them hiking in Sandy Springs at the waterfalls because it’s beautiful and a great physical activity to get the blood flowing and to connect with nature.
Then I’d take them to one of the many comedy shows in the area. I’m an aspiring comic and I’d love to be able to try some jokes out at an open mic with them. The sets are only like 5 minutes long!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my tribe! I have friends and family members that have helped me along my journey of content creation. Whether they’ve served as cameramen, an interviewee, or babysat my son for me on days I’ve needed to attend an event. You are appreciated! Also my baby boy, Maxton is my biggest motivator. I want to show him that his mommy is working very hard to provide him with the life we both deserve.
