We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Meadows Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well my thought process was pretty simple. We have an opportunity to change lives on and off the court. I decided not to look at our business as a traditional sports organization, but more of a social enterprise. I wanted to see what commercial strategies could be applied to make a positive influence or change for social, economical, mental, and cultural improvement in our communities. We just want to help develop and empower better humans.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

We are Clark Holdings LLC a sports organization. We are the ultimate in sports entertainment, where Pro’s are made! We currently own 2 teams pro and minor league men’s basketball. We have also partnered with a company and have dived into developmental football.

I think I am most excited about the fact, that we are breaking barriers for women in the minor league sports arena.

I got here today with a lot of prayer and self-determination. I DID NOT ever think I would work or even own a sports team.

I am learning to bet on myself more and the importance of networking with those in your field, which is hard in our area.

I want the world to know that the first few chapters of my story are not for the faint of heart, but with pure intentions, determination, and an awesome village, not only can you become everything and more you were destined to be, but you will get a clear idea of who you are to build your brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

My week itinerary would be: (no particular order)

Bizaar: The Coffee Bar (22nd Str. N)
Carter’s Seafood (8th Ave plaza)
The Vault (3rd Ave n)
Anywhere DJ Chris Coleman of v949 is spinning
J Wings (Crossplex)
Liton8th (8TH AVE PLAZA).
Plum Bar (17th ave n)
GOUDY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER (Fairfield)
URBAN SMOKE (Fairfield)
CLUB M (3RD AVE)

Oh and can not forget
Melanin and Mimosas hosted by Ant Washington at PEPS (3RD AVE N)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is so many people on earth I owe this ongoing experience to, but first it would definitely be to God and next my Husband Christopher Clark. Then it would be our staff: Calteesha Andrews, Darrius Bussey, Ricard Ford, our players, sponsors, and fans.
