We had the good fortune of connecting with Kharla Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kharla, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I am soooo out of balance lol! Being an entrepreneur you have to wear so many hats along with the hats of family life, and self care. WLB is such a priority but it’s always important to know you can only do what YOU can control. Learning how to back off of tasks that’s out of your control is a lesson for work, life, balance!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a multi talented stylist that is actually good a many areas of hairstyling which I’ve heard and learned are more rare than not. What sets me apart is I connect with my clients… they say I understand what they want and deliver! I’m an artist at heart but my head doesn’t always want me to be. So that is not easy and always a challenge as a business owner. The hair world that serves clients is about them, not you. and not what you mostly.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Beltline! Good food, art, fun, and sights Two Urban Licks! Restaurant if nothing else, go for the turkey wings!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Philadelphia Fashion Weeks’ Hair team, Nina Jones & Kia Sterling. I became Facebook friends with Nina and admired her work and her journey. She posted tryouts for Philly Fashion weeks hair team. I was on the brink of giving up as a stylist and was losing, I guess, spirit. I went and was so revived at just trying out. I got picked and it was the first time in a long time, I felt i was where I was supposed to be. Being under them as leads, I learned so much about teamwork, inspiration, and it gave me such an adrenaline rush! They are thee best in encouragement and artist growth! I love it
