We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendrick Scar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendrick, how do you think about risk?
I believe that risks are the foundation of character. You can live every day doing the same thing and sustain life. . . but to live as you, is to take risks in the things you never would have thought you could possibly do. Taking that extra step has gotten me past my expectations every time. It has never failed me, why? Because I pushed myself to a limit I never reached, only furthering my mental capacity. I realized that even in the smallest gestures of a conversation a major change can happen in the blink of an eye.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a Radiology student and currently leading a lifeguard position at a resort waterpark, I think my versatility is what would set me apart from others, almost like a ‘Clark Kent’ mask, I am also artist who makes books as well as music. The medical field has and will always be a passion of mine. With my slight obsession with anatomy and physiology, I’m oddly able to utilize both my professional life and career to aid in my recent works of art. Rather into broken bones and trauma care, I tend to more drastic measures when it comes to helping people and it shows in my craft. Making psychological thrillers, I enjoy giving readers and listeners the “goosebumps” effect as it is thrilling to me. I know I’m not where I want to be just yet, but I am extremely humbled and grateful for the lessons I’ve learned so far. I sometimes have to remind myself I’m only 22, you have your entire life ahead of you to reach for the stars… success has no time limit. I want the world to understand, that even in your greatest fears and doubts, lies belief… the ability to DO. Make your dreams come to and don’t stop going even when you reach it. My new project ‘The Booktrack’ EP is now available on all streaming platforms, you can find me as alias “KSCAR”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was in town I’d definitely show them Little Five Points first, it’s a bucket of gold when it comes to art and culture. It has a variety of outlets and food spots to eat and shop, but my favorite thing about LVP is the vibe and aesthetics stores and graffiti-filled walls create there; it is very welcoming for everyone from everywhere. After that, I’d definitely take a hike up Stone Mountain! I am a nature lover and love the sights of evergreen just as much as skylines, Georgia has a special place in my heart because of its true blend of southern cityscape. Harold’s Icebar is a must anytime I’m in the city, probably has the best music and food in Downtown ATL, love having their shrimp basket and cup of strawberry hennessy (two for a good time). Last but not least would be Georgia Aquarium and Cascades, as they say, save the best for last. These two places alone show how vast and full of color Atlanta is, the aquarium has fish by the millions and beautiful sights to see and you have a nice kickback-style party to attend, just slide over to Cascade Skate RInk for a good time and some ATL nostalgia.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, the man above and my family for giving me a ground to walk on. I’d like to give a few shoutouts to a few people who have helped in my personal growth and creative endeavors throughout my career thus far. Adonis LaMoss, a childhood friend, continues to challenge me and encourage me to look beyond the surface of man and into the soul. A visual performer and artist, they are experienced behind and in front of the camera. They have taught me how to exude sophistication as well as individuality, which only enhanced my artistic and self-knowledge. Not only is Adonis a big inspiration to me, but colleagues I’ve met through school (FAMU) and organization Thee Melodic Stepping Experience Inc. (MSE Inc.) have the I wouldn’t have had the continuous love and support to get me to this point today.
