Meet Kayla Bell | Swimwear Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Since we’ve been in and out of lockdown with the possibility of that happening again, I’ve learned much better ways of balancing work and life overall. Being in a position where one has to work from home, I’ve learned to set boundaries as well as enforce them along with setting deadlines and extending myself grace when things happen that I’m not in control of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Arrow + Phoenix Swim is so special and different because our swimwear and activewear is made from recycled plastic here in the US. We boast fun colors, inclusive sizing, and an array of styles that look flattering on all body types. There have been numerous challenges to overcome over the past ten or so years from shady manufacturers, fabric testing issues, Covid being a huge factor in delayed shipping, etc. have been beyond challenging but we’re so thankful for our customers who find us and not only shop with us but also post and tag and tell their friends about our brand. It makes such a world of a difference and we’re so thankful. We also have incredible stores who support us and sell our pieces so we’re thankful!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend has actually never been to Atlanta, ironically lol so there’s a few places I’d take her throughout that week starting with Ladybird and the Krog Street Market, the botanical gardens, the aquarium, mini gold on the rooftop of Ponce, and probably a tour of the Stranger Things location tour (only because its her favorite show). When it comes to food, Atlanta is one of my favorites so places like Bon Ton, Baltimore Crab & Seafood, St. Cecilia’s Italian and the frozen drinks at Ladybird because those are unmatched, especially the Life of Leisure cocktail.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s no way I could be where I am without my team: Brenda, Stormi, Ali, and Diana! It’s so amazing to be able to work with such an incredible group of women. At the same time, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank my family, friends, and mentors (Fawn and Emily) for every ounce of support and guidance they’ve given me along the way and still do to this day.
