We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamshuka and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kamshuka, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I often hear my clients say that motherhood or entrepreneurship or even just life can feel like we have to constantly put on different hats. I’ve noticed over the years that balance is usually a seasonal requirement. It keeps changing in every season. Personally I get overwhelmed at the mark of changing that many hats to accommodate love, creativity or even just sanity. I’d prefer to infuse HARMONY instead of the stress of finding balance because often our balance is tied to a motivation. Why we do what we do or Who we do it for or why we have to do any of it. Balance can be exhausting at times. Harmony allows us to flow and let go of what isn’t working in the season you are in.
What should our readers know about your business?
I believe we all have the choice to rise above our circumstances. Yes it takes incredible strength but it also takes great intention. Facing childhood trauma, being a survivor of civil war, survivor of sexual abuse and overcoming ptsd and depression my goals have always been tied to healing and wellness. I would love for people to think of a Wellness toolbox and think of ways they can add to their own experience. I created the “Warrior Queen Affirmation card deck” to my platform as a way to remind people to take a pause, take a break and be mindful as they start their day and through the day.
Officially launching “The Conscious Warriors” website and platform has been just an extension of the work I’ve been privileged to do within the community as a Wellness Coach for years now. Asan international speaker for over 10yrs now I’ve met so many amazing people and heard their incredible stories.
The pandemic brought all sorts of feelings and emotions but one thing is for sure and that is it allowed us all reset. Seeing the blessing in disguise as many people faced the challenges of canceling events, changing mindsets and adjusting expectations I took the time to overcome all those obstacles while grounding myself in mindful practices and finding the silver lining.
When you go through many different circumstances in life your resilience muscles start to get stronger and soon before you know it you find it easier to go through calamities by finding the calm. Over the years I’ve learnt many lessons in business including the one that our emotions rush into. But when you trust the timing of you life everything works out smoothly. The world might be falling apart around you but when you have faith and use your fears as fuel you get this supernatural strength and endurance. That’s where strength is North, where resilience lives.
I want to people to know that it’s when trouble comes that we get to exercise those muscles. Don’t see the storm and hide. See the storm and ask yourself what is required of me in this moment.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Personally I can’t wait to visit the ATL again (my 2nd home). But when it becomes okay for travel again I would take my bestie to “Centennial Olympic Park”. I loved the feeling of awe, almost like a child walking through with their parents. Located in downtown Atlanta, full of entertainment, gardens, and beautiful structures I love it there. Let’s not forget the the Ferris wheel and that view a from 20 stories high is spectacular.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my partner in love & life “Sheldon Barrocks”. He is the author of “UNSTUCK MONDAY”, a creative thinker & strategic operations manager at MARS Global, he’s been my number fan & supporter in all our 20yrs together. Together we raise our 4 children & slay our goals by practicing self love & focusing on the importance of our mental and emotional wellbeing. I am grateful to have someone who isn’t intimidated by a successful black woman but a strong black man who builds, supports and elevates the journey.
