We had the good fortune of connecting with Just KendraKay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Just, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk has driven my career and life. After my second grandmother passed away, I took the risk of moving to Atlanta from Tampa. I had gas in my truck and a dream. Same day my car was stolen at gun point from me. So I took the risk and stayed in Atlanta, to pursue Music Public Relations. From that point on it was up from there. Risks fueled every investment and opportunity to where I am now. Without taking risk, I would still be at Chase Bank. Taking risk is basically having faith in yourself that the reward is worth the risk.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There’s so much that goes into Just KendraKay. From reading music, to always being in leadership roles since a young age. The two just came together to form Just Kendra Kay the Publicist. Eager to help the independent artists move and gain exposure, in a dog eat dog music industry. Working with Hip Hop Weekly Alongside Party Hardy, was the first major opportunity. From there it was working with Trina in Florida, to working with Zaytoven, Oj Da Juiceman, OG Macko, Foogiano, Euro Gotit, MMG models, a ton of Independent artists and more brands over the 7-8 years. Before moving to Atlanta it started as Kendra Kay interviewing local Tampa artists about real issues. Staying relevant as a business woman, just takes hard work and constant revamping thru the challenges. Challenges are inevitable but dedication to the vision keeps you busy and booked. My professional expertise and knowledge keeps clients coming back. But the results on streams, views and placement keep my long term clients as my friends lol I just want people from the bottom to know you can do anything you keep your heart and focus on. Now I am releasing music, to show potential clients how I got other brands on Billboard charts, blue checks, major interviews, tv placements and more!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
SkyLounge Atlanta every day after 7pm-until. During the day we would visit the major audio and visual studios. Patchwork, Site 962, Tyler Perry Studios, Soul Asylum, Street Execs and do lunch on Edgewood or at 2chainz Escobar. After the networking take a walk at Piedmont or Stone Mountain. Grab food at any soul food place Downtown then off to SkyLounge for drinks, networking and food.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
