We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Goeddeke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
After I had my son I thought I would go back to work full time, but I quickly realized I didn’t want that. I went to part time and I don’t think I will ever go back to full time. I truly feel like Americans are raised to think they have to work to live instead of live to work. My hope with Covid is Americans learn to slow down. I feel like it’s amazing how families are spending so much quality time together!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My business partner Heather Smith and I met at a salon in Lil 5 points. After the state opened back up Heather and I decided we should move to a smaller/safer space. In which it would be easier to ensure the health and safety for our clients and ourselves. Not only is our space safer we upgraded our color line to the most non toxic one we could find O&M. Also we are selling the most sustainable product line we could find OWAY. Heather came up with the name and the branding/ website.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places to eat/drink: Kimball house, Gaja, Deer and Dove Pre covid I would take them to a show at the earl to see bands like the Black lips or Omni I love to walk around in the woods and I’ll drive two hours to hike for 3 hours and drive back that day so I would take them to a waterfall or two.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business partner Heather Smith My dad (because he is the person that told me to go to hair school) Jorelle (she gave me the badass haircut in her bathroom that made me feel like I wanted to make other people feel badass too) My son Watson who is my biggest cheerleader And love and support from my mom and my boyfriend Jesse My mentors Andie, Star Shield and Duane Elvis my best friend who is also a hairstylist
