We had the good fortune of connecting with Jet Houston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jet, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
The balance between work and life has become extremely important the deeper I dive into my craft. In the earlier years of creating, I felt it was super important to work, work, work with very few breaks. This lead to the ultimate burnout to the point of not wanting to create at all. It is very important to get GoodVibeWraps to our amazing customers, but they too have to realize that artist need breaks to further grow. As full time creators, ideas and thoughts constantly consume our minds and we have to remember to take care of ourselves so that we can be charged up to create freely to the tribe we attract. Taking days off is one of the most important aspects of my career as a jewelry designer. Time with myself, family, and nature allows my thoughts to slow down so that I can come back down to earth, and back to my creative safe space. Self care is the best care!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
GoodVibeWraps creates one of a kind copper and crystal wire wrap pieces bringing you good vibes daily. Crystals allow us to align our chakras leveling us up physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. I am mostly proud to be a fairly new artist in a big city with many great artist in the same craft and becoming a local favorite. GoodVibeWraps pieces are very intricate as we pride ourselves on the details that will make your piece stand out from other copper jewelers. It was not easy for me to get to where I am professionally today in the three years of this amazing journey. I began my journey in Columbia, SC just to pack up all my belongings, break my lease, leave my job, and head to Atlanta with no where to live. What I did know is that I wanted GVW to be successful in a bigger city, therefore I had to move with no fears! My eyes are always on the prize so challenges are welcomed and become easier to overcome when you realize how inevitable challenges are when you are chasing your dreams. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on the way is to never quit. Patience and hard work will push you through to the other side every time. Never compare your journey to someone else’s journey. The world needs to know that GoodVibeWraps is all about spreading positive energy with or without our pieces. One good deed can spread for miles and miles! Your vibe attracts your tribe!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is a great city to explore whatever you are into. One of my favorite gems of Atlanta is all the amazing places to eat! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I’d prefer to cook it myself with an addition to mimosas! After breakfast, a nice walk on the Beltline will provide many sites and small business to support. Lunch would be between Hangkook Taquiera and Suran of Thailand. Coming from Spartanburg, SC I am not use to having so many options of places to dine. The Battery in Smyrna would absolutely be on the list of things to do as they have many food options and a bar! A local art show is also an absolute must with live music creating a whole vibe for a lovely evening. Topping the night off at Octopus Bar for late night eats would be the cherry on top. The entire day would be spent eating and sight seeing. Atlanta gets an A+ for eats and vibes!

Shoutout to every single person that has purchased pieces from GoodVibeWraps, told someone about us, commented on a post, liked a post, and sent good energy our way! Atlanta also deserves so much credit in the success of GoodVibeWraps. I moved to Atlanta a couple years ago in hopes that the city would appreciate and support my work. I received overflowing and overwhelming love from many communities within Atlanta. KD from Protect Yo Energy and CraftTrap in Castleberry Hill created an amazing platform that allowed me to showcase my creations directly to my demographic. Without her consistency in monthly events I do not believe GoodVibeWraps would be as successful as it is. Thank you KD!
