We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Kagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, what do you attribute your success to?
I started my own business more than thirty-five years ago. At the time the communications industry was very different. There was not Internet, no wireless. There was only local and long distance telephone and cable TV. I started writing and publishing my take on the changing industry and my name became well known over time. Today, I have become one of the best known Wireless Analyst’s and columnists in the business, but it took work and time. Over time I have built one of the strongest and most trusted brand names in industry, and through my work as an Industry Analyst, columnist and speaker, I always strive to be honest, share my opinion, tell the truth as I see it and help the industry and competitors continue to grow as the technology continues to change.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my career in the creative world of advertising, back in the days before everything went digital. Then when Ma Bell broke up in the early 1980’s, my career took a turn. I have been in the communications industry ever since. Always having a preference of being my own boss, I built my name and reputation over years of work. There were many lean years early on, but over time suddenly everyone knew who I was and wanted me to be up-to-speed on them and their company as the industry continues to change. I continual to write several columns, share my thoughts and opinions and am busier today than ever before.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta has so many wonderful, beautiful and special places. It’s a place full of history and wonderful expectations for tomorrow. The 1996 Olympics were a big deal and the Olympic Park downtown is a wonderful place to start. There is the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium and so much more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife has always been my best friend and biggest supporter. She always believed in me, even in the lean, early years. Thank you Honey!
