We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzmyne Dennis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazzmyne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always cultivated a passion for jewelry, but I never really had the intentions to actually start making and selling jewelry. Until one day, during quarantine, I thought about how being an entrepreneur would be effective, especially during this pandemic. I also liked the idea of building something from scratch and making it uniquely different from others. Since jewelry was something I truly loved, I decided that’s what I wanted my brand to be! Since then, my passion for jewelry has grown stronger & my brand is who I am.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is jewelry making. I call myself the “CHARM PLUG” because i’m the go to for all the jewelry needs. This includes bracelets, necklaces, anklets, bangles, I have it all. What sets me apart from other jewelry makers is I personalize every bracelet I make. You will never see two of the same bracelet. I’m proud of myself, but i’m more excited about expanding my brand later down the line. Without hard work and dedication to myself and brand, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was not easy (and still isn’t) but i’m working to be where I wanna be professionally. I have learned several lessons on this career path: 1. Not all business is good business. Yes, everyone is willing to give their money, but sometimes its not worth the money.
2. You CANNOT expect support from everyone, even your closest friends won’t support you.
3. Growth comes with consistency, if you aren’t consistently promoting your brand, getting your face seen, your business will be at a stand still spot.
4. YOU ARE YOUR BRAND. Everything you do/ say can benefit your business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Atlanta, there are alot of spontaneous things to do. If I had to plan an evening out, Atlantic Station would definitely be a move. There are plenty of stores to shop at & a number of food places. There is also a movie theater to visit. Plus the scenery is beautiful for pictures. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would personally like to thank everyone who has supported my brand since day one. You guys are truly appreciated. Also wanted to thank those who saw my vision and believed in it. THANKS ALOT!
