We had the good fortune of connecting with Janiro Hawkins II and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janiro, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Being consistent and providing the experience that I would like to receive. This means that every phone call, email, text or message through one of our social media platforms are always responded to within 24 hours or less. With so much technology at our fingertips, there’s no excuse to not be consistent and efficient.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When we created the Southern Entertainment Awards, we didn’t have anyone to talk to for what we wanted to do or accomplish, there was no other events in existence and we were literally starting from scratch. We overcame our challenges and obstacles by trial and error and not being afraid to fail nor fall. Almost twenty years later, we’re still learning, adapting and adjusting because the entertainment industry is an ever-changing environment.
What we want people to truly know is that we love music and entertainment and we just wanted to provide a platform for individuals to receive some form of recognition.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Nashville, there’s plenty of options, we’d definitely have to grab some hot chicken from Princess’, pizza at Slim & Husky’s and cocktails at Plane Jane, EG&MC and Minerva. Other local spots that are must visits would be the National Museum of African American Music, Trenches, Phat Kaps and Germantown Pub.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My business partner truly inspires me. We work in tandem and on pace with one another so frequently it’s just second nature. I’d also like to give a shoutout to TJ Chapman, Wendy Day, Solo and Dj Scorpio as each of these individuals have had some form of influence on me over the past 20 years plus.
