We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamika Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamika, what’s your definition for success?
I define success as being able to live a life doing what you’re passionate about while being financially stable to do the things you love to do and maintain the lifestyle you desire. For me personally, I would be solely working on my boutique and other projects in fashion and home decor while traveling the world with my friends and family.
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
J La’ Boutique is an online women’s clothing boutique that offers stylish and unique pieces of quality at a reasonable price. What sets us apart is that our collections cater to any wardrobe need from everyday looks, a girls night out, and vacations. I’m most excited about what’s to come. We are a fairly new boutique, and I know it’s only up for us from here! I’ve always wanted to have my own boutique. In the past, I was too afraid to step out on faith and start a boutique of this magnitude. My prior business endeavors failed, but once I decided to focus on my true passion, God hasn’t lead me astray. It hasn’t been an easy process at all, but it’s been gratifying. This journey has been full of trials and errors also but it has been a great learning experience. I overcame the challenges by never giving up and keeping my goal in the forefront. The biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency is key, outsource help when needed, and don’t be afraid to do the work! What I want the world to know about us is that J La’ Boutique is for the woman who is crazy enough to try something different, confident enough to be sexy, and cool enough to be herself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were coming to the city, it would be a week full of non-stop fun. The first stop would be Busy Bee’s for some of the best soul food in the south and then end the night at The Roof at Ponce City Market for games and cocktails. The next day or two would be spent being a real tourist visiting the MLK Center, Georgia Aquarium, Little Five Points, The High Museum of Art, and Atlanta Botanical Garden. For some outdoor fun, we would shoot the hooch, go skating at the Atlanta Beltline, and then visit Stone Mountain Park. We would end the with going to eat at my favorite restaurant in Atlanta, The Juicy Crab.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my wonderful tribe of friends and family!! My friends keep me inspired and motivated to never give up. I am blessed to have a strong circle of women who are educated, encouraging, and entrepreneurs outside of being mothers and wives. With everything that they have on their plates, it’s motivating to see that they never give up. At times they may come to roadblocks, but they always find a way to get back on track and keep going. My family is incredibly supportive and always shows up when I need them the most!! I couldn’t do this without all of them!
