We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamesha Bazemore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business was to create digital art for my twins to use on their school supplies.

During one of our back to school shopping trips my twins fell in love with the school supplies that had art on them, but they wanted school supplies with pictures on them that looked like them. Instead of getting upset. They turned to me and ask me to draw on their notebooks and folders.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What you are most proud of or excited about? I am most excited about watching an idea that was created by two little girls turn into more than a business, but an artistic revolution to take ownership of our children connecting with products they consume, like, school supplies and home décor.

How did you get to where you are today professionally? Wow now this has a big answer for me but I’m going to give you the shortened version.

I was birthed with the gift to draw. Both of my parents are gifted. I enjoyed drawing as a child but put it down before I graduated from high school. I picked it back up during active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. I continued to strengthen my design skills after an honorable discharge by working for various engineering firms. I then turned what I learned in the field of design engineering into a digital art store after my twins asked for school supplies that had images on them that looked like them.

Was it easy? LOL. Nope.

If not, how did you overcome the challenges? I overcame all of my challenges by being persistent and not allowing fear of failure to consume me.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. I learned that consistency wins.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? I want them to know that this is far bigger then me. My gift has allowed me to create products to not only create cute school supplies but to also help families build a path for generational wealth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Everywhere. I’d want them to go everywhere. I am an explorer and I find it impossible to stay in one spot, but if I had to I’d say downtown Atlanta.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes yes. I would like to shoutout my Goalfriends. They are my tribe of sisters who have consistently supported my efforts, have chosen to grow with me and have leveled up their own businesses. You can check them out by visiting www,MeshaBazemore.com.
