We had the good fortune of connecting with Jahmirris Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jahmirris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always wanted to be in or a part of the music business. I remember being a kid and watching BET, Music Choice, MTV, and VH1 music videos and seeing the credits of the artist, label, director in the bottom right corner and wanting to one day have a label with talented artists premiere on TV like that one day.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Jahmirris Smith I am a 27 record executive running my own record label, management, publishing, and distribution company called Pyramid Gang Entertainment Inc. My job is complex at times lol my responsibilities are to make high-level business and creative decisions concerning the company’s strategy, vision, administration, and operations, as well as decisions about the careers of artists on the label’s roster. Was it easy? NO, IT WAS NOT lol but obstacles are meant to be crossed there are not meant to stop you, lucky I had a few amazing people around me that were very driven and motivated to see a real turnout when it came to certain tasks. The lessons I have learned are to take your time with it comes to starting on a new assignment, pay attention to everything you say and decisions you make because a small problem you make can become HUGE overnight. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? I would like the world to know that you will be seeing more from Pyramid Gang Ent and Jahmirris Smith in 2022 year and beyond because we are the future of the entertainment business, not just music but we have also started a production company called Pyrimedia Films which will be putting out new material in 2022 from movies, music videos, documentaries, interviews and much more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting I would take them to a Falcons, Braves, or Hawks game off the rip lol. Another place I would take them is to a few historic sites like MLK’s former home after that I would let them tour the city and check out a few dope restaurants like Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, K & K Soul Food, and SluttyVegan ATL.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, I would love to Shoutout my entire Pyramid Gang Entertainment team and supporters for sticking with us throughout the years of transitioning from an indie label in a small town (Decatur, AL) to being signed to one of the biggest names in the music business Dallas Austin (Dallas Austin Distribution). I would like to Shoutout the entire Symphonic Distribution staff for the great communication and teamwork they have shown since with signed to them as well. I also would like to shout to my children for being my motivation (Brylee, Riley, Carter).
