We had the good fortune of connecting with Ja’Da Brayboy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ja’Da, what inspires you?
MYF8TH is inspired by my older brother, who was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, which ultimately lead to him becoming legally blind. His perseverance and independence he exemplifies with his disability, always inspired me. He always told me “all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed” and “faith without work is dead”. Those two quotes stuck with me and I branched out and made a brand, and a lifestyle out of it. On our original circle logo you can see a boy in a valley of trees, with a blindfold over his eyes (faith is daring the soul to go beyond what the eyes can see); this represents whenever you come across an obstacle, you can’t see the finish line, or you simply don’t know which way to go… all you need is faith. The words ‘MYF8TH is ALL I EVER NEEDED’ surrounds the boy in a circle. That’s how we came up with our mantra #KEEPF8TH.

What should our readers know about your business?
So how do we stand out from others? We are a small black owned business called MYF8TH Apparel. The journey in itself you have to keep F8TH. Starting off as a small company, it’s just the excitement of having your first logo, having your first T-shirt, and then just excitement of seeing people wear your brand. We really like to connect with our customers so when they wear our brand we asked them to put #F8THFIT under their post on IG.

You could also say what I’m most excited about or proud of is that I did keep my faith throughout all of this. As any entrepreneur could attest to the journey is not easy.. it’s a lot of obstacles, roller coasters, bumps and bruises! But to me the meaning of my brand will always bring me back to my core belief of if God gave me this vision that he’s going to see me through.

Being completely honest was it easy no. Was I expecting it to be easy not at all… this hard? Nope lol . But as we know anything in life that comes easy doesn’t really have longevity so everything that I went through when I first started in my business I’ve learned from it I’ve grown from it and it’s made the company what it is today. There were plenty of mistakes that needed to happen then so they don’t happen now and in the future

Some lessons that I learned along the way is not everybody is going to have the vision I see and that’s OK because I have to keep pushing through. If I were to allow anyone to deter me from my vision then I wouldn’t be here. You have to be able to put yourself out there on a limb every single time and no matter how unsure you are, you have to do it anyway because you never know the next release the next collection could just be that one to really put us on the map.

What do I want the world to know about my story is that everybody has a story it’s just how you use it. We all have a vision whether it’s a business whether it’s with family friends anything but are you willing to step outside of your comfort zone, step outside of how others may view you, to chase your dreams that only you may be able to see.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I’m a flight attendant as well. So whenever I can get out of the city, I’m trying to go to islands or overseas. I love to travel!

Charlotte has lots of great food spots!

For Brunch: STIR Charlotte or Snooze AM Eatery

Lunch: couple of my faves Romeos Vegan Burgers, WhatTheFries CLT, PO Boys Low Country Seafood Market and Of course Prices Chicken Coop

Dinner with a vibe and great food I would say STATS CLT.

But I’m also a hugeeee foodie so check out my food page also @f8thfuleatz on Instagram.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Along the process of creating and building up MYF8TH Apparel there has been a lot of important people, that without them, I don’t know where I’d be. First and foremost, God who is always at the forefront of everything I do. My entire family and bestfriends who has been rocking MYF8TH Apparel since day 1, and most importantly my Mom and Dad. Anything in life that I choose to do, my Mom and Dad are always first in line to cheer me on and let me know that there’s nothing under the sun I can’t do. Huge shoutout to my assistant and the Content Creator Aneesa Watson. She really aids with everything under the sun that I maybe too busy to get to. My photographer Sheldon, that’s my guy! Always coming through with amazing product pics for our website and social media. Another major shoutout to everyone who supports MYF8TH, my simply sharing a post, wearing a shirt, telling your friend about where you got your hoodie, just really anything! We really appreciate it and without y’all we are nothing. Without my support group, there’s no way I would be able to what I’m doing. So I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
