We had the good fortune of connecting with Imperfect Opinions and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When we decided that we wanted to create a podcast, we always said we would keep going as long as we’re having fun. You always hear that when you do what you love, it doesn’t feel like work. That’s the feeling we get when creating content. We all have that feeling we get when we know something just isn’t working out. But when you’re passionate about something, you’d never want to give up. If you’re willing to just stop and it doesn’t bother you, then that’s not what you were meant to do. We experience the opposite during the pandemic. For some reason, we let the pandemic slow us down. During that time off, we received so many inquiries about when we were going to start recording again. We realized that what we share is relatable to so many people out there just trying to navigate life. We’ve created a platform that allows so many people to chime in and share their “imperfect opinion” because our listeners really are our cohosts! Now that we’re back with new content, we get to have that feeling we missed so much. We get to interact with our audience, and we get to have fun again. Stepping back, made us realize that we wanted to keep going and giving up was no longer an option.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The Imperfect Opinions Podcast is a show hosted by 2 30-something women who are from the Midwest now residing in ATL. We started off talking about how crazy our experiences in Atlanta have been since we moved there. From dating, to having too many friends visit, to discussing girl code…. the show did really well. But, we were beginners. We didn’t have the best editing skills or no real intro. We just took a chance and stated the show because we talked about it for so long. After we started, we quickly learned from our mistakes. We learned how to not talk over each other, how to edit, and how to market ourselves. We even had alter ego names that we later realized wasn’t working for us. It was more authentic for us to be ourselves.. We now use our real names, updated our marketing skills, and have a real layout that works well for our show. It wasn’t easy. It was alot of trial and error and we’re still learning. We love doing the show and plan to only get bigger and better. We have so many ideas and can’t wait to bring them to life. From our experience and for those who’s been rocking and listening to us over the years, we want our listeners to learn to never give up. Things will never be perfect and that’s okay.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm….. For a good scenic view of art and the city, the beltline for sure! We love seeing all the art, shopping at Ponce City Market, and stopping at fun restaurants such as Guac y Margys along the way.

If you listen to our Podcast, then you know live music is our move, always. So anywhere with a live band or performer is where we would take friends visiting. We love Blue Martini in Buckhead on Fridays! The live band will have you singing every song at the top of your lunges! The James Room also has live music on Wednesday nights! The Speakeasy Ambiance there is so dope!

We also love sport events as well. So if the Hawks, Falcons, Braves, or ATL United have a home game, that would be an option as well. The sports scene here is insane!

If you’re looking for a real girls vibes, the Garden Room is an option for cute/good drinks and small plates. We also love Eclipse Di Luna for small plates as well. You also can’t go wrong with Rock Steady if you’re looking a grown and Sexy and chill vibe… plus they have Caribbean food and good music!

Lastly, we are hookah lovers so that would definitely be in the itinerary for sure. Sivas, Blue Martini and Pasha are great choices!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to shoutout first and foremost, the listeners! With out them, we wouldn’t exist. Next, we want to shout out everyone that has helped us on our journey along the way. We are professional working women by day, who decided we wanted to speak about real life and what we deal with on a day to day basis. We are self taught when it comes to creating a podcast show. To everyone that has helped with music, logos, photoshoots, equipment, and marketing, we appreciate all of you so much!
