We had the good fortune of connecting with Honey Darvas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Honey, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My upbringing definitely shaped my ability to use my creativity and imagination as a hairdresser. I was raised in Arlington, Texas by my mom and grandma. My late mother was very progressive. She enrolled me in a preschool for gifted children with a high IQ named the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. We took field trips to all of the local art museums and learned about art. We also learned about biology and chemistry as well as interacted with animals which fostered a love of nature. I remember I was the only child brave enough to hold the boa constrictor named Daisy which scared my mother to death! We also saw plays at the professional theatre Casa Manana. I was raised to love art and science and to respect all living things. My imagination and creativity were encouraged and validated and I really feel that my upbringing has allowed me to use my creativity on a daily basis and have confidence in it as a hairdresser. Additionally learning about biology and chemistry at a young age shaped me to love the art and science of hair color. Lastly, being taught to respect nature influenced my choice to exclusively use L’anza who does not test on animals. My respect for education lead me to realize my dream of being a L’anza Healing Artist which is an Educator for the brand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a graduate of the AVEDA Institute of Atlanta and the owner of Honey Do Salon located in Newnan, Georgia. The road from beauty school to owning my own salon was never easy but looking back I learned valuable lessons as to how I’d like my own salon to operate. Honey Do is about a guest’s total experience and not just about the hair. I want my guests to feel like the star of the show from the moment they enter my salon until the leave. It is a space to relax and feel pampered as well as leaving with beautiful hair. Honey Do has partnered with Green Circle Salons which means 95% of the waste created during a guest’s service is recycled. I use L’anza Healing Haircare and Color exclusively which heals, seals and protects and is never tested on animals. I am so proud that the dream that was Honey Do Salon is now alive and thriving!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend came to visit me in Atlanta I would definitely take them to the Georgia Aquarium! It is very relaxing and I could sit and watch the Beluga whales for hours! We’d also make a trip to Little Five Points which is such a vibrant area filled with creative people to eat at the Vortex and shop at Crystal Blue. Atlanta is such a fun city to explore but these are my favorite things to do in the city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my Shoutout to my Favorite Person in the World and the Coolest Guy in the Universe to Brad Darvas, my husband. He always supports and encourages me and is my biggest cheerleader.
