We had the good fortune of connecting with Evie Fleming and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evie, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?

The most difficult decision was my move to leave my corporate job of almost 15 years and go work on my well being and and shift my career path. I had always had a job where I punched in and did my hours. So to think of leaving that safe environment was scary. However, I feel that losing my father in that last year of time there made me really examine things. I began to look to do something more with my life that I feel is impactful and is going feed my soul.

What should our readers know about your business?

Where do I start about my business? I began my study of reflexology during a time in my life where I was really learning about my body systems, trying to detox and change my food choices. Yes I am a nurse, but most of my focus was on others and I needed to begin looking more inward. I started my practice of reflexology in a facility with other practitioners and then moved to sharing a space with my sister April. It wasn’t until last year that I finally made the move to take on a place of my own. It was scary because you wonder if you will have the clientele? Will you be able to deliver the service and actually help others? I quieted those voices and I worked to make a safe space for my clients. Created an environment that allows the body to shift into a state of restoration and to destress. Along the way, they gain awareness and take charge of their health.

In my office I have included sound therapy in my sessions through the use of a body sound chair. By integrating carefully selected sounds and music with the manual techniques of reflexology, the results seem to amplify. I feel this sets me apart and strengthens my brand/my style. When people see me, they think wellness. They know that we are going to be looking for a deeper movement in the body.

I have also launched a book this year entitled “Reflexology and her Sister Yoga”. It is gives the reader a quick look into my journey and invites them to come along and explore these two modalities and maybe give them a try. It can be purchased at any local bookstore or on line.

Whether you are in person with me for a session or reading my book, know I will be asking you to…

 Follow your soul/sole.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

My favorite spots are any places you can get outside and experience nature! Take off your shoes! Make a connection with the earth! I would encourage them to explore our local parks and nature trails.

We forget to take walks through our own neighborhoods and explore the wonders that are right in your own back yard!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I am deeply thankful to my yoga teachers and mentors whose guidance around self awareness and taking the time to listen within. It has been instrumental on my journey. You truly do not go it alone. It is through the connection and support of others that I have been able to have the space to take risks and dare to jump! Many times I have had moments of doubt and questioned the direction I was taking. My great group of women in my network, my tribe, my family are right there to help me walk through the process and always, always with words of encouragement. This is a something I encourage everyone to do. Build your team! Have people in your field that are like minded and supportive.

Thank you to my mother (my personal VA). Much thanks to my husband John who has given me the space to discover my path and has alway been my rock of support. I send love to my brother C and my sister April & husband Von.

I hope I have created a path for my son and grandson to follow. Each generation creating the way for the next.
