We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Jessica Mosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Jessica, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The truth is, my business found me. No one would give me a chance in broadcasting so I created my own contract and began doing media/broadcasting that way. And oh boy did it take off
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The one business of mine that I want to talk about tonight is the MizCEO Entrepreneurial Media Brand. It is a full service media boutique that offers services such as publishing, public relations, comprehensive coaching certifications because our educational arm is fully accredited through the International Coaching Institution. How I got where I am today is through hard work, perseverance, and consistency. You have to be consistent in business! No, it’s not easy! But you have to ask yourself how bad do you want it?! Some of the lessons that I’ve learned along the way is that there is no shortcuts to success. You cannot cheat the grind! You must put the work in! I want the world to know that I’m a lover of God, and His Word! I want the world to know that I am a political junkie!! I love studying politics! I also am someone who cares deeply about mankind and their hurts. This is why I started my nonprofit Deborah’s Place for Battered women and children.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I actually love New Orleans! I love the music and the southern food! I love the history of our culture that’s there. Where would I hang out with a guest? Hahahahaha! I would take them to the Alligator Camp. I would also take them to Slavery vamps so that they could learn our history as black people. I would show them places still affected by Hurricane Katrina. I am a history buff and culture girl!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My late maternal Grandmother, Jennie Ruth Newell. My Grandmother was a stern believer in Jesus Christ. She was very instrumental in my faith and in my education. She made us read every night.
