We had the good fortune of connecting with Donavan Jehiel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donavan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was primarily that I wanted to create something that would allow me to do more than just work for others. Then I thought about what I was actually good at and realized I’m really good at changing up aesthetics and styles for myself and others! First it started with clothing via styling and now I’m taking on jewelry as well.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I essentially Work with people one on one over time to help develop/curate their wardrobe, style them for events, vacations, shoots, and anything in between. I also do personal shopping and other creative services along with my jewelry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s really hard because so many places, including my favorite, went under due to the pandemic. But I love Low key spots like cru lounge (until everyone shows up) and joystick. I love the chill vibes of cru and the music. Joystick is just super low key and has dope, retro video games that are really nostalgic and fun!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of people I used to work with are to thank for acknowledging & encouraging me when it came to merchandising and dressing mannequins in less conventional methods. This pushed me to stay true to my aesthetic & keep pushing for more complex and unique outfit combinations.
