We had the good fortune of connecting with DeAirah Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DeAirah, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
I had the pleasure of co-authoring a book with my mother. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in December of 2017 and my entire world stopped. We work as partners at Parties by DeAirah and it was without question that I would be there for her on her cancer journey. We released our book on my birthday, October 6, 2018 and it was a proud moment for both of us. The book is titled, “Surviving Pink. An Inspirational Story of How a Breast Cancer Diagnosis Strengthened a Mother Daughter Relationship. Our journey is breast cancer, but the book is for anyone facing a life-altering illness and could use some positive motivation. We detail our journey and how much the role of Jesus has played to get us to the place we are now. We continue to work together promoting the importance of early detection and self breast exams and making fabulous events shine with our Party in a Box! We can’t always choose the hand we are dealt what matters most is how we play the hand. We chose to not be defeated, walk with purpose, and rely on God for our strength and grace. If you aren’t impacted you will know someone that is and our book is a great resource to share with them. We want you to finish the book and feel empowered and ready to face any battle that presents itself. Surviving Pink is available on our website www.survivingpink.com and Amazon.com.

I am a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University. A chance encounter with an oncology social worker lead to my decision to pursue a master’s degree in Oncology Social Work. I continue to assist my mother in my caregiver role, work part time, and pursue my education full-time. I know that I will make a difference in many lives and I saw firsthand how the Social Worker worked to help my mother find resources to make her life easier. It is not easy to seek help in this manner, but my mother did not let her pride get in the way of her securing what she needed. I am grateful for the experience and look forward to the next chapter in our lives. I will graduate from Jackson State University in May of 2022. This happens to be my mother’s Alma Mater. Life has a way of bringing everything full circle! Parties By DeAirah is a business built with love. We put 100% into every order we receive and our ultimate goal is customer satisfaction.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting the area we would absolutely dine at Bahama Breeze. The Jamaican wings are delicious! The menu offers a plethora of options and the drinks are truly island inspired. Another place we would visit is Top Golf. This semi-outdoor golfing experience is so much fun especially with friends. You can enjoy food and drinks at your private bay and golf and conversations without disturbing others. Another great attraction is the Ferris wheel located in downtown Atlanta. Why? Because it allows you to see a beautiful view of the city and is very relaxing. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my mother, Felicia Robinson. She is a pillar of strength and I am blessed that I get to walk alongside her in this journey. We have faced many obstacles and I have yet to see her throw in the towel, she always rises from the ashes. My faith is strengthened because I know that God lives in her and she is blessed to be a blessing to others. She is my mom, confidant, friend, bestie, ride or die, and a breast cancer survivor and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
