We had the good fortune of connecting with Cornelius Newman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cornelius, how does your business help the community?
I have this crazy theory that if you show people positive images of themselves consistently for 12 years they will believe what they see is true and attainable. As a film producer my goal and purpose is to produce films depicting African Americans in out-of-this-world situations, being adventurous, innovative, victorious and having fun in style. One of my favorite quotes is by Reginald F. Lewis. He simply asked the question, “Why should white guys have all the fun?” In American cinema African Americans are often typecast into one dimensional roles. The Write Brothas Entertainment will help our community and the world by changing the perspective of how the world sees Africans Americans and most importantly how African Americans see themselves, one film at a time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Filmmaking is a business and an artwork. What sets me apart is my writing versatility. Some only write dramas, action, comedy etc. Over the years I expanded my skillset to write multiple genres. My first Sci-Fi Fantasy film is currently in post production.

Despite working film industry gigs from time to time, I choose to make my own lane. Often times I would find myself on film sets saying to myself, “I can do this and be great at it.” This fueled me to constantly learn and grow professionally to get to a level where I can producer, write and direct my own films along with my business partner Decarlo Tatum, Jr.

Nothing has ever been easy. Although challenges are apart of life itself, there have been many times over my journey where I wanted to through in the towel. I still struggle even today. Sometimes things seem impossible, but perseverance prayer to God is how I keep moving forward. Once your mind is made up, you unders6that there is no turning back and you must see your dream through to the end. No excuses.

What I’ve learned along the way is that I am good enough. Whatever it is you are pursuing, you are good enough to get it done and get it done well.

The Write Brothas Entertainment brand is all about storytelling that is groundbreaking, life changing, and wildly imaginative.

Personally, I want people to know that’s isolated to be having the free, to be weird, quirky, expressive, authentic, and amazing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve honestly been so focused and locked to making y dream a reality, that I haven’t had much of a social life. I wish I knew of some places off-hand but I can’t think of any. For breakfast I we would go to First Watch. Maybe go hiking at Stone Mountain Park. Then I would definitely check out some museums. Go indoor skydiving, maybe check out an Atlanta Braves games and it would be a must to hit up Local Green Atlanta for some of the best food in Atlanta. That would be day one. For the next 6 days it would putting a bunch of ideas and places on sticky notes, paste them on a corkboard and throw darts at them. Whatever gets hit is where we’re going.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
