We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciarra Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ciarra, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Even though I am the CEO of Alexia’s Body Bar LLC, I am still a full time student. I study almost 70 hours per week. I love my business but I still have dreams of becoming a nurse one day. I think finding a balance between work and other life activities is extremely important because without balance, things tend to go haywire. Still today, I am trying my hardest to find time for my business while actively trying to get into nursing school.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Even though I am a full time business owner, I am also a full time student. It has always been a dream of mine to work in the hospital and fight discrimination and medical malpractice that significantly effects the black and brown communities. The most important lessons I have learned throughout this journey is to stay patient, never lose focus, and never give up. Sometimes we have a minor set back but at the end of the day it is important to succeed at whatever makes you happy. I want everyone to know that I am a person who is a hard worker and even though there are times when I get frustrated or things may seem too overwhelming, I will always keep grinding to make my way to the top.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is my hometown and we have so many fun spots! My favorite breakfast eatery is Homegrown. My favorite lunch/dinner restaurant is Houston’s. Also, if you love ramen go to Ponce City Market!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my mom for allowing me to stay home and focusing on my school work and advancing my business!
