We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My mom often reminds me that when I was younger, around the age of 4 or 5, my uncle got a new computer. He was proud of the computer, and I think what he did that day activated a gift I was born with. He and I made a video together, using his new computer. I’ve always had an interest in technology. It became more defined a few years ago when my mother, a psalmist, had a promotional photoshoot. As I watched the photographer/Graphic Designer take and edit the pictures, I knew I wanted to do what he was doing. He noticed my interest and took me under his wing. I’ve taken what he taught me and worked on my craft. I researched, invest in it and pray about it. I initially gained experience by supporting my mother’s ministry and churches; creating and managing social media accounts, managing streaming services, providing photography services, producing graphics, and videography. I’m in awe at what God is doing. Clients seek my services because God provides. He uses previous clients to send referrals and gives me strategies on how to market my business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At a very young age you could catch me looking out the window or wondering looking at a poster of some kind, the different styles, fonts, and mixture of colors is what caught my attention. I decided to take that on in designing. The irregular color mixtures and patters I include in my graphics is what sets me apart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend downtown. First we would go to the Pizza Joint for sure. Maybe take a walk down the river walk. Then, being the creator that I am, we would most likely create some content. Whether it be pictures, promo videos, Graphics, or just something fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my mother Franshon Hollis, my BIGGEST supporter! No matter what the venture was she always supports. Shout out to my mentor Roland Gaskin for giving me wisdom and knowledge.
